About the Role

As the Sr. Manager of External Communications, you will be responsible for building Zip’s visibility and credibility across national, business, financial, technology, and trade media. This role manages both proactive storytelling and reactive press engagement, serving as a trusted advisor to senior leadership during high-stakes moments.

You will own Zip’s external narrative across regions, partnering closely with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment, accuracy, and impact. This role requires strong media instincts, exceptional writing skills, and experience navigating the complexity of public-company communications.

This is a high-impact opportunity to shape Zip’s corporate profile as we continue scaling in the U.S. and globally.

Responsibilities

Corporate Reputation & Media Relations

  • Lead the development and execution of Zip’s external communication strategy across corporate, business, product, and regulatory topics.

  • Serve as Zip’s primary media point of contact; cultivate, manage, and expand relationships with top-tier national, business, financial, tech, and trade reporters.

  • Drive proactive storytelling that elevates Zip’s leadership position and differentiates our brand in the market.

  • Manage reactive media responses with speed, accuracy, and sound judgment.

Executive Communications & Reputation Management

  • Support senior executives with briefing materials, talking points, speeches, op-eds, and external speaking opportunities.

  • Identify and secure strategic platforms—including conferences, awards, and thought-leadership venues—to raise Zip’s corporate visibility.

  • Provide real-time counsel to leadership during high-stakes or sensitive moments, drawing on public-company experience to navigate complexity and risk.

Cross-Functional Leadership & Narrative Alignment

  • Partner closely with Internal Communications, Investor Relations, Marketing, Product, Legal, and Commercial teams to ensure a unified and consistent narrative.

  • Manage agency partnerships and collaborate with external partners to amplify Zip’s message.

  • Align messaging across regions to support global storytelling and reputation objectives.

What You Bring to the Team

  • 7+ years in corporate communications, external comms, or media relations

  • Public company experience required

  • Strong relationships with top-tier business, financial, technology, or national press

  • Proven ability to place impactful stories and manage high-stakes media cycles

  • Exceptional writing skills across formats—press releases, statements, speeches, executive messages, Q&As, and thought leadership

  • Ability to translate complex business, financial, or product information into clear, compelling narratives

  • Comfortable operating in a high-growth, high-ambiguity environment

  • Strong project and time-management skills with a high bar for accuracy and quality

Voluntary Self-Identification of Disability

Form CC-305
OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 04/30/2026

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
