Write your story with a career at Zip
Join Zip’s Technology function, responsible for building and maintaining seamless, secure and sustainable platforms that enable customers to shop with confidence and merchant partners to grow their brands.
As a Senior Software Engineer II in our Data and AI squad, you’ll play a critical role in uplifting and modernising the systems that power our SOX Compliance workstream. You will partner closely with Finance, Risk, Compliance and ANZ business teams to reduce the effort required to document key business processes, risks, controls and data lineage, while helping ensure accuracy, consistency and strong governance.
This is a chance to reshape foundational applications and integrations used across the business, enhance their reliability and intelligence, and embed AI-driven capabilities that make compliance easier, faster and more automated for everyone involved.
What you'll own
- Build a deep understanding of the SOX Compliance program and translate requirements into scalable, sustainable software solutions that reduce operational effort and strengthen risk and control visibility across the organisation.
- Uplift and evolve key applications including our Risk and Control Matrices, OpenMetadata data catalogue and SAP Signavio process management environment, as well as future governance, risk and compliance (GRC) tooling.
- Design and deliver modern integrations that synchronise key business objects in near real time, improving accuracy and reducing the risk of poor-quality data.
- Embed AI and ML-enabled enhancements that support self-service and automation, making it easier for teams to document, validate and manage compliance-related information.
- You’ll be responsible for deployment, monitoring, quality assurance and ongoing operational health of applications and infrastructure, applying strong DevOps and CI/CD practices throughout.
- Contribute to engineering patterns, frameworks and data models, helping define how our compliance and governance systems operate at scale.
- Operate in an agile environment, collaborating closely with product, data, finance and risk teams to deliver high-quality outcomes aligned to regulatory timelines and business expectations.
What you'll bring to the team
- Deep experience designing, building and deploying modern software solutions across cloud environments, ideally AWS.
- Proficiency in Python and JavaScript, with familiarity across containerisation, orchestration and supporting tooling such as Docker and Kubernetes.
- Strong database capability across relational and NoSQL systems and confidence working with structured business data models.
- Hands-on DevOps experience including CI/CD, code management and observability practices.
- Experience working with streaming technologies such as Kafka, and interest in designing integrations that support real-time or daily synchronisation.
- A thoughtful, risk-aware approach to designing enterprise-grade systems, ideally with exposure to compliance, governance or highly regulated environments.
- Enjoyment of collaborative problem solving and working closely with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- A mindset that embraces AI and new tools to adapt, learn and grow.
- An aptitude for identifying and managing risks. Whether you are a People Manager or an Individual Contributor, we are all leaders at Zip, therefore effective risk management is important to how we run our business and part of all our roles.
- Our values in your DNA: Customer First, Own It, Stronger Together and Change the Game
