About the Job

The Sr. Systems Engineer will serve as a lead in effectively designing and implementing  the IT infrastructure in alignment with the ZipRecruiter’s goals. They will serve as an escalation point for managing and improving IT systems through integration and introduction of new technologies. IT infrastructure is understood to include all corporate software and hardware systems, as well as monitoring, security and backup of the entire technological infrastructure of the organization. 

Key Focuses: 

  • Provide input on the IT organization’s disaster recovery and business continuity plans, policies, and procedures.
  • Lead the configuration and management of SaaS, VPN, and MDM systems
  • Configures and supervises the implementation of management tools including monitoring, security, and backup tools
  • Enforce company policies, philosophy, processes, and standards related to Data Security, Privacy, and Disaster Recovery procedures across all company infrastructure
  • Installation, configuration, troubleshooting, performance tuning, capacity planning, monitoring, documentation, and administration of critical internal technology assets in AWS and on premises
  • Collaborate with other departments to meet the technical needs of the organization; drive company technology initiatives

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 8 or more years working in the Information Technology field in a senior support role including 4 years or more as a Systems Administrator or (IT) Systems Engineer
  • Experience with Operating Systems including Linux for account administration and package management 
  • Networking knowledge (DNS, DHCP, OSI Model, TCP/IP, UDP) 
  • Advanced scripting and automation knowledge (Bash, Python, etc.)
  • Experience integrating and coding against third-party APIs: JSON parsing, data validation, schema and schema-less database parsing
  • Understanding of user authorization and authentication technology: SSO, OAuth, SAML, SCIM, RBAC

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Information Systems or a related field
  • Hands-on experience with planning and administration of Amazon Web Services
  • Experience with Identity Provider (IdP) systems
  • Strong knowledge of Security and Backup solutions
  • Knowledge with security concepts (Zero Trust Architecture, designing for GDPR, etc.)

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $122,500-$170,000.. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location, and the range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location, role-related knowledge and skills, depth of experience, relevant education or training, and additional role-related considerations.

Depending on the position offered, equity, bonuses, commission, or other forms of compensation may also be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and other benefits.
