Summary:

We are looking for a Lead Decision Scientist to join our Jobseeker Decision Science team at ZipRecruiter. This role is pivotal in accelerating business-focused decision-making for key product and business initiatives. As a Lead Decision Scientist supporting the Jobseeker Team, you will leverage your expertise to deliver high-quality, actionable insights for cross-functional teams, balancing analytical rigor with speed to insight.

Key Focuses:

  • Drive Business Outcomes & Decision Making: Serve as a trusted partner for Product and Engineering stakeholders, translating complex data into clear, business-focused decisions. Enable impact through analysis, experimentation, causal inference, and modeling, ensuring timely and data-based insights.
  • Become a Subject Matter Expert: Identify opportunities, define metrics, and build analytical frameworks that guide product success.
  • Excellent Communication & Strategic Translation: Synthesize and communicate complex analytical findings to executive leadership and senior stakeholders in product and engineering, translating them into clear, actionable business strategies.
  • High-Impact Project Leadership: Driving the end-to-end execution on key initiatives, from hypothesis generation and experimental design through to post-launch analysis and recommendation.
  • Technical Leadership: Providing guidance and direction to the team's technical roadmap, standards, and best practices for experimentation, causal inference, and AI tooling.
  • Mentoring: Upleveling our junior IC talent through dedicated mentorship on technical skills, communication, and business acumen.
  • Experimentation Excellence & Speed: Design and analyze large-scale A/B tests, utilizing advanced statistical techniques to ensure validity and rigor in product decision-making, while driving efficiency to deliver rapid, reliable insights.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field such as mathematics, computer science, operations research, economics, or equivalent experience.
  • 6+ years of product analytics or data science experience in a product/engineering/tech environment.
  • Experience with designing experiments, A/B testing, and utilizing statistical principles to inform business decisions.
  • Strong business acumen and a demonstrated ability to connect data analysis to measurable business outcomes.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with experience synthesizing complex findings for both technical and non-technical audiences, including executive leadership.
  • Proficient in statistical computing and scripting languages such as Python, R, SQL.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience with two-sided marketplaces (e.g., job boards, e-commerce, or similar platforms).
  • Master’s degree or PhD in a quantitative field.
  • Experience in a technical lead or IC leadership role.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $170,000-$200,000. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location, and the range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location, role-related knowledge and skills, depth of experience, relevant education or training, and additional role-related considerations.

Depending on the position offered, equity, bonuses, commission, or other forms of compensation may also be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and other benefits.
