We are seeking an experienced EHS professional who will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining policies that ensure a safe and compliant workplace. This role plays a critical part in shaping a culture of safety, cleanliness, and regulatory compliance aligned with the high standards of the aerospace and defense industry.
Responsibilities:
- Own and develop Zone 5’s comprehensive Environmental Health & Safety program
- Author, implement, and continuously improve the company Safety Manual and all related policies
- Design and enforce 5S, cleanliness, and audit procedures across all work areas
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal EHS regulations (OSHA, EPA, Cal/OSHA, etc.)
- Monitor legal and regulatory updates and proactively integrate changes into policies
- Lead internal audits, incident investigations, and corrective action tracking
- Oversee employee EHS training and ensure documentation is current and complete
- Work cross-functionally with engineering, manufacturing, facilities, and leadership to align safety standards with operational objectives
- Guide the company in safe handling of hazardous materials, emergency preparedness, and environmental reporting
- Incorporate firearms and ordnance safety into company EHS programs where applicable (FFL certifications, etc.)
- Represent Zone 5’s EHS in interactions with customers, regulators, auditors, and other external bodies
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, or equivalent experience in a related field.
- 5-7+ years of progressive EHS experience, with at least 3 years in an aerospace, aviation, or defense environment preferred
- Deep knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and environmental health regulations, with hands-on audit and training experience
- Proven ability to build, scale, and manage EHS programs in a startup or high-growth setting
- Familiarity with export-controlled environments (ITAR/EAR), manufacturing assembly lines, and wire harness manufacturing a plus.
- Preferred experience in weapons safety and/or weapons handling protocols
- Excellent communication and leadership skills, with a proactive, solution-oriented mindset
- Strong organizational and project management capabilities
Pay range for this role
$100,000 - $140,000 USD
