DevOps Engineer (III/IV)

We are seeking an experienced DevOps Engineer to build and maintain the critical infrastructure that powers our advanced unmanned aerial systems. You'll work at the intersection of software development and operations, ensuring our engineering teams have the tools, pipelines, and cloud infrastructure needed to rapidly develop, test, and deploy software that flies on our platforms. This role is essential to maintaining our competitive edge in delivering cutting-edge autonomous systems to support national security missions.
Key Responsibilities
Infrastructure & Cloud Operations
- Design, implement, and maintain AWS cloud infrastructure supporting development, testing, and production environments
- Manage and optimize cloud services including EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, EKS, and other AWS offerings
- Ensure high availability, security, and cost-effectiveness of cloud resources
- Implement infrastructure-as-code practices using tools like Terraform or CloudFormation
CI/CD & Build Systems
- Create and maintain robust CI/CD pipelines for multiple software repositories and projects
- Automate build, test, and deployment processes to accelerate development velocity
- Implement continuous integration best practices to catch issues early
- Manage and optimize build systems for performance and reliability
Developer Tools & Platform Management
- Administer and maintain GitHub Enterprise including repository management, access controls, and workflow automation
- Manage Artifactory or similar artifact repositories for binary and dependency management
- Integrate and maintain developer tooling including monitoring, logging, and observability platforms
- Provide technical support to development teams on tooling and infrastructure issues
System Administration & Support
- Perform Linux system administration across development and production environments
- Troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure and application issues
- Assist development teams with debugging code issues and performance optimization
- Maintain system documentation and runbooks
Integration & Automation
- Build and maintain integrations between various development tools and services
- Develop APIs and automation scripts to improve operational efficiency
- Implement monitoring and alerting solutions for infrastructure and applications
- Create reporting tools and dashboards for visibility into system health and performance
Security & Compliance
- Implement security best practices across infrastructure and deployment pipelines
- Manage secrets, credentials, and access controls
- Support compliance requirements for defense and government contracts
- Participate in security reviews and vulnerability remediation
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or related technical field, OR equivalent experience
- 5+ years of professional experience in DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering, or similar roles
- Expert-level Linux system administration experience with deep knowledge of system internals, networking, and security
- Strong AWS/cloud infrastructure expertise with hands-on experience designing and managing production cloud environments
- Software development experience with proficiency in at least one programming language (Python, Go, Bash, or similar)
- CI/CD pipeline expertise using tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, or CircleCI
- Deep knowledge of software development tools including Git, artifact repositories, container registries, and build systems
- Experience with infrastructure-as-code and configuration management tools
- Strong understanding of containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with engineering teams
- U.S. Citizenship
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in the defense, aerospace, or autonomous systems industries
- Background with real-time embedded systems or robotics platforms
- Familiarity with GitHub Enterprise administration
- Experience with JFrog Artifactory or Nexus
- Knowledge of observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack, Datadog)
- Scripting and automation expertise (Python, Bash, PowerShell)
- Experience with security scanning tools and vulnerability management
- Prior work in high-security or classified environments
- AWS certifications (Solutions Architect, DevOps Engineer)
Pay range for this role
$129,267 - $189,237 USD
