International Site Lead - Counter UAS Systems (Norway)
At Zone 5 Technologies, we're redefining what's possible in unmanned aircraft systems. Our team of engineers and innovators is developing cutting-edge autonomous solutions that push the boundaries of UAS technology - solving complex challenges that matter.
We're building the future of UAS capabilities, and we're looking for exceptional talent to join us. If you're driven by hard problems, energized by rapid innovation, and ready to make an impact on next-generation flight systems, you belong here.
We are seeking an experienced, mission-driven International Site Lead to spearhead the deployment, integration, and expansion of advanced Counter-UAS (C-UAS) interceptor systems based out of Norway and across Europe in support of NATO and allied forces. This role serves as the forward-deployed nexus between operations, engineering, and international partners, ensuring successful integration of interceptor systems into complex C2 (Command & Control) ecosystems. The ideal candidate thrives in dynamic environments, understands both battlefield realities and engineering constraints, and can translate real-world operational feedback into actionable program improvements. This individual will lead on-the-ground execution across operations, training, sustainment, and system integration, while shaping the future of the interceptor program through lessons learned, partner engagement, and capability evolution.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the in-theater lead for deployment and sustainment of C-UAS interceptor systems across NATO and allied operational environments
- Act as the primary interface between field operations, engineering teams, and international partners
- Lead integration of interceptor systems into multi-layered C2 architectures, ensuring interoperability with allied systems
- Oversee and coordinate Field Service Representatives (FSRs), Field Service Engineers (FSEs), mission managers, and maintenance personnel
- Develop and execute training programs, including “train-the-trainer” models for allied forces
- Capture, document, and communicate lessons learned from operational deployments, feeding directly into product improvements and engineering revisions
- Troubleshoot system performance, integration challenges, and operational issues in real-time field environments
- Support engineering change proposals, system upgrades, and rapid capability iterations based on field data
- Assist in identifying and vetting international manufacturing and supply chain partners to support scaling and localization efforts
- Lead program expansion efforts across Europe, including new site stand-ups, partner coordination, and capability rollouts
- Ensure operational readiness, sustainment planning, and lifecycle support of deployed systems
- Support customer engagement, demonstrations, and mission planning with NATO and allied stakeholders
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Defense Systems, Aviation, or a related technical field (or equivalent operational experience)
- 8–15+ years of experience in defense systems, UAS/C-UAS, missile systems, or integrated military platforms
- Proven experience supporting forward-deployed or international defense programs, preferably in NATO or allied environments
- Strong understanding of Command & Control (C2) systems integration and interoperability challenges
- Experience leading FSR/FSE teams, operational units, or technical field teams
- Demonstrated ability to translate operational feedback into engineering or product improvements
- Experience with system integration, troubleshooting, and field-level diagnostics in complex environments
- Familiarity with international defense collaboration, foreign military partners, and coalition operations
- Strong leadership, communication, and cross-functional coordination skills
- Ability to operate independently in remote, high-tempo, and ambiguous environments
- Willingness to travel extensively (50–75%) across Europe and allied regions
- Active U.S. Security Clearance (or ability to obtain/maintain)
- U.S. Citizenship
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience with counter-UAS systems, air defense, or interceptor technologies
- Background in missile systems, kinetic interceptors, or layered defense architectures
- Experience working with NATO command structures or allied defense ministries
- Knowledge of export controls (ITAR/EAR) and international defense program compliance
- Experience supporting rapid prototyping, fielding, or urgent operational needs (UONs)
- Familiarity with digital engineering environments or model-based systems engineering (MBSE)
What Success Looks Like
- Seamless integration of interceptor systems into allied C2 environments
- High operational readiness and uptime across deployed sites
- Continuous feedback loop between field operations and engineering
- Scalable training and sustainment frameworks adopted by partner nations
- Expansion of program footprint across NATO and allied forces
