Role
We are looking for a Staff Development, Security, and Operations Engineer to join our Engineering team. This is a hybrid role based in San Jose, CA (in office 3 days a week), reporting to the Manager, Software Development Engineering.
As a Staff Development, Security, and Operations Engineer, you will own and evolve the infrastructure backbone of our CI/CD and Kubernetes-native environments across cloud and hybrid landscapes. Your work in automating secure delivery patterns and strengthening software supply chain integrity directly accelerates innovation while maintaining the highest standards of reliability and security.
What You’ll Do (Role Expectations)
- Own and optimize the self-hosted GitLab infrastructure and CI/CD ecosystem, ensuring high availability and scalability across cloud and hybrid environments
- Implement and manage Kubernetes-native operations and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) to automate the provisioning and lifecycle of global platform components
- Design and implement secure, reusable pipelines with robust secrets management to fortify the SDLC from code to production
- Partner with engineering, security, and infrastructure teams to lead complex initiatives that align technical execution with organizational security and reliability goals
Who You Are (Success Profile)
- You act like an owner. Your passion for the mission fuels your bias for action. You operate with integrity because you genuinely care about the outcome. You adapt to what’s needed, navigating seamlessly between high-level strategy and hands-on execution.
- You are a learner. You have a true growth mindset and never stop developing yourself, actively seeking feedback to become a better partner and a stronger teammate. You love what you do and you do it with purpose.
- You are a positive force. You approach hard problems with constructive energy and a 'can-do' spirit that is contagious, inspiring your team to stay focused on the solution.
- You operate with urgency. You understand that in a high-growth environment, speed and quality are not mutually exclusive. You have a relentless focus on execution and a bias for action, delivering high-impact results quickly to win for the customer and the team.
- You are data-driven. You use data and analytics to find the truth, measure what matters, and guide informed decisions. You value evidence over assumptions, replacing "I think" with "I know" to drive better outcomes.
What We’re Looking for (Minimum Qualifications)
- U.S. citizenship is required due to the nature of assigned customers; 4+ years of experience in DevSecOps, Platform Engineering, SRE with expertise in CI/CD architecture and secure software delivery patterns
- Hands-on experience managing self-hosted GitLab or similar SCM platforms, including high-availability deployments, maintenance, and troubleshooting
- Technical proficiency in Kubernetes-native operations (e.g., Helm, GitOps, ArgoCD) and Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform, Pulumi, etc.)
- Practical experience with cloud networking (DNS, TLS, Load Balancing) and implementing IAM/RBAC across AWS or GCP environments
- Strong Linux fundamentals and automation proficiency using Bash, Python, or Go
What Will Make You Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications)
- Expertise in GitLab Geo configurations and managing high-availability, large-scale GitLab Runner fleets
- Proven track record of designing secure CI/CD frameworks involving policy-as-code and SBOM integration
- Advanced industry certifications such as AWS Solutions Architect Professional, CKA, or CKS
