About Zscaler

Zscaler accelerates digital transformation to ensure our customers can be more agile, efficient, resilient, and secure. As an AI-forward enterprise, we are constantly pushing the envelope, leveraging the world’s largest security data lake to power our cloud-native Zero Trust Exchange platform. This innovation protects our customers from cyberattacks and data loss by securely connecting users, devices, and applications in any location.

Here, impact in your role matters more than title and trust is built on results. We say, impact over activity. We seek innovators who actively use AI to amplify their impact and who thrive in an environment where we leverage intelligent systems to stay ahead of evolving threats. We believe in transparency and value constructive, honest debate—we’re focused on getting to the best ideas, faster. We build high-performing teams that can make an impact quickly and with high quality. To do this, we are building a culture of execution centered on customer obsession, collaboration, ownership, and accountability.

We value high-impact, high-accountability with a sense of urgency where you’re enabled to do your best work and embrace your potential. If you’re driven by purpose, thrive on solving complex challenges, and want to be part of the team that’s helping to secure the AI age, we invite you to bring your talents to Zscaler and help shape the future of cybersecurity.

We are seeking a high-caliber Director / Sr. Director P&C Communications & Cultural Narrative to join our People & Culture team at our Santa Clara headquarters.

In this role, you will lead an integrated P&C Communications and Creative team while serving as a strategic thought partner, executive communications leader, and change narrative strategist. You will shape how Zscaler’s people strategy, culture, and organizational priorities are translated into clear, compelling narratives across employee and candidate experiences. Partnering directly with senior P&C executives and leadership, you will help shape bold visions and complex organizational shifts into clear, inspiring, and transparent employee and external communications.

You operate with the strategic foresight of an executive advisor—understanding the downstream cause and effect of organizational messaging, calibrating tone to build trust, and fostering a strong sense of company culture across our global enterprise.

You are a "player-coach"—someone who can operate at the highest level of strategic advisory while remaining deeply involved in the daily craft of storytelling, messaging, and content creation.

What You'll Do

This role requires a balanced approach: you will operate as a high-level strategic architect, while simultaneously rolling up your sleeves to ensure the quality and execution of our narrative and creative output.

  • Executive Messaging & Strategic Advisory: Serve as a trusted advisor to senior P&C leaders, coaching on tone calibration and crafting high-impact executive communications, all-hands presentations, leadership briefs, and organizational updates.
  • Cause-and-Effect Impact Analysis: Evaluate major People & Culture initiatives (such as performance evolutions, organizational shifts, and policy updates) to anticipate employee sentiment, assess downstream impact, and proactively address risks.
  • Change Communications Strategy: Shape the narrative, sequencing, audience messaging, channels, leader communications, and manager communication tools for complex organizational changes, partnering with program and change leads to support readiness and reinforcement.
  • Cultural Narrative, Talent Storytelling & Creative: Shape and steward a cohesive cultural narrative that connects Zscaler’s people strategy, Ways of Working, and employee experience. Lead how that story comes to life across employee and candidate touchpoints through communications, visual design, video, and multimedia, partnering with Talent Acquisition, Corporate Communications, and Marketing to ensure alignment with Zscaler’s broader brand.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with Corporate Communications, Marketing, and Executive Leadership to align internal and external messaging, amplifying Zscaler's workplace culture.
  • Measurement & Feedback: Establish feedback mechanisms to gauge communication effectiveness, sentiment, and message retention, continuously refining strategies based on insights.

What We're Looking For

  • Demonstrated curiosity and active exploration of AI tools, with a proven history of integrating new technologies to enhance daily workflows and augment problem-solving
  • A "player-coach" mindset: You are just as comfortable facilitating strategic alignment with C-suite executives as you are drafting internal communications, reviewing creative assets, and shaping hands-on day-to-day messaging.
  • 10+ years (Director) or 12+ years (Senior Director) of progressive, high-impact experience across a broad breadth of communications disciplines—specifically including executive communications, corporate communications, and Employer Brand/Talent PR—with a proven track record of supporting organizational change in a fast-paced global environment.
  • Proven experience leading communications strategy within a hyper-growth or highly complex global organization where you have successfully navigated matrixed leadership structures.
  • Demonstrated editorial judgment and the ability to constructively challenge and influence senior leaders, including recommending when a message, timing, channel, or approach should change.
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary communications, creative, and/or talent brand teams, with the ability to set direction, develop talent, and maintain a high bar for quality and impact.
  • Deep understanding of change dynamics, organizational psychology, and messaging risk management.
  • Demonstrated ownership mindset with high diplomatic acumen, empathy, and judgment.

What Will Make You Stand Out

  • Experience bridging corporate exec communications with high-stake impact, public affairs, or campaign strategy.
  • Proven track record of developing enablement tools and briefing guides for frontline managers during periods of rapid growth or business transformation.
  • Ability to combine strong written narratives with compelling visual messaging for executive presentations.

Form CC-305
OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 07/31/2029

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
