Position Overview:

Zynga is looking for a Senior web developer in the Austin, Bay Area, or Toronto areas.

We have a well-rounded and tight-knit, distributed team with a healthy mix of engineering skill levels, and are looking to strengthen our team in tackling a variety of challenges. We are looking for a self-driven and motivated engineer who is a strong communicator, has a strong sense of ownership, works well as a team player, and performs well under deadlines.

The candidate would have an opportunity to develop and maintain web-based games under the Words With Friends umbrella, including wordswithfriends.com and those hosted on the Facebook Canvas and Instant Games platforms. These games are built using an in-house JavaScript framework that interfaces with AWS Lambda, Zynga APIs and other third-party APIs to bring the game experience to our players on the web.

The ideal candidate will have strong software design skills, capable of owning feature work throughout the entire development pipeline of design, architecture, development, testing, release and monitoring. The candidate can write clean code and automated tests; can provide scalable solutions in a distributed environment; and has at least three years of experience working on mobile games or live service software.

What You'll Do:

  • Develop and maintain the web-based versions of Words With Friends hosted on wordswithfriends.com and the Facebook Canvas and Instant Games platforms.

  • Collaborate with Customer Service, Live-Ops, Product, Analytics, Design, Engineering & QA to ensure Words With Friends on the web continues to meet its product goals.

  • Write clear, maintainable, portable, and highly functional code that is well tested and documented.

What You Bring:

  • Web-frontend development experience – Javascript, CSS, HTML, Node.js, npm

  • Proficient in C# and Unity
  • Amazon Web Services experience - S3, CloudFront, Lambda, Cloud Watch, API Gateway

  • Demonstrated experience with integrating 3rd party web APIs and architecting scalable systems.

  • B.Sc. degree in computer science or equivalent experience.

  • Demonstrable significant prior success as web developer who designed and implemented complex UIs.

  • Ability to work independently, and in collaboration with others.

  • Ability to own a project end-to-end from inception to release and ongoing maintenance.
