Data Science Intern (Applied AI) - Summer 2025
Position Overview:
Zynga’s Applied AI group focuses on developing innovative ways to tackle problems within the game development process, demonstrating directly the ways that AI can improve the creativity and productivity of team members across Zynga and the wider Take Two organization. Our team is multi-disciplinary, and includes engineers, data scientists and product managers among others. We build cloud-based tools and technologies to support every aspect of the development process, from concept development through to live ops and publishing operations.
To be successful in this role you should have curiosity about the areas of game development, artificial intelligence and computational creativity, be a proactive learner, have good depth in technical skills, and a strong desire to build high quality software that delivers value and efficiency.
What You’ll Do:
Contribute directly and immediately to advancing one of our ongoing projects
Write well-crafted, efficient and testable code and algorithms
Plan and implement tasks of small to medium scale independently
Communicate effectively and efficiently in a collaborative, distributed team environment
Work with team members across disciplines to design and implement AI-driven systems
What You Bring:
The following are required for this internship:
Currently pursuing a graduate degree (Ph.D.) in AI, with focus on AI for games or computational creativity
A robust understanding of principles of AI, and its uses for procedural content generation and game development
Familiarity with Python, and one of: Javascript / Typescript or C# / Unity
Familiarity with cloud infrastructure principles - AWS preferred
Ability to quickly learn new technologies and systems as needed
Desire to learn and share knowledge with peers
Strong communications and collaboration skills
Bonus Points:
Prior experience building AI systems for games, procedural content generation, or computational creativity
Familiarity with principles of game design and implementation

The pay for this position in California/Colorado/ New York/Illinois at the start of employment is expected to be $41- $48 per hour.
However, base pay offered is based on market location, and may vary further depending on individualized factors for job candidates, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Technical Art Intern (Words With Friends) - Summer 2025
Position Overview:
Words With Friends is looking for a Technical Art intern to contribute to our projects.
Are you an individual who is enthusiastic about learning to make games? Whether you are interested in rigging, shaders, scripting or other aspects of technical art, we will evaluate your skill set and set you up with an experienced Technical Artist to work hands-on, developing content in our game.
Technical artists work with, and coordinate between, engineers and artists. They collaborate with both groups to ensure the game art meets technical requirements as well as function in the game as defined by design or art direction. On WWF, this work takes place in the Unity game development engine.
What You'll Do:
You’ll get to work on a known, popular game that's been around for over 15 years! You will have hands-on learning experiences with the Unity Game Engine. Learning about User Interface design and layouts and how to create them in the Unity Editor. You’ll have the opportunity to build simple animations within the game and some fun, eye-catching visual effects with the built-in particles system. Our UI, Art, and TA teams are closely integrated, and you’ll be a part of that, helping us design the game for the future and maybe even fix a few bugs along the way!
What You Bring:
This Technical Art summer internship is for new graduates who will have graduated from a Canadian college or university between June 2024 to May 2025. This role is connected to Zynga’s Toronto office.
Interest in both the technical and artistic aspects of game development
Enthusiasm for being challenged with technically difficult tasks
Understanding of high level programming language like python, C# or shader languages like HLSL
Familiarity with Unity
Coursework showing an interest in art either art history and/or art classes
A simple portfolio would be appreciated
Strong verbal and written communication skills

Technical Art Intern (Game of Thrones: Legends) - Summer 2025
Position Overview:
Game of Thrones: Legends is looking for a Technical Art Intern to add to our team. Technical Artists are responsible for the integration and optimization of a variety of art assets, taking them from concept artists and animators and getting them to work in-engine alongside our engineers. Tasks would include working with flat artwork, animations, 3D model rigs, lighting components, VFX elements and internal tools to get assets into the game and running efficiently. Our team is very process oriented and always looking for new ideas on how to improve workflow to get the best out of everything we do.
What You'll Do:
As a Technical Art Intern, you’ll be working alongside artists and engineers to build and integrate new elements into the GOT: Legends game. This role provides a great opportunity to learn and grow as a Technical Artist while working with an amazing and well known IP; it is also a great chance to learn processes and workflows when dealing with a live game. Tasks on this project could include:
Working with the Concept Artists to add new assets into the game
Implementing VFX assets to set up exciting effects for Game of Thrones characters
Supporting the Animation team in importing new character rigs and animations
Working along side the rest of the Tech Art team to audit and improve internal processes
Using and iterating on internal process tools (exporting/importing scripts, bundling scripts)
Collaborating with the Design team on game events and special game modes
What You Bring:
This Technical Art internship is for those who will have graduated from a US college or university between June 2024 to June 2025. This role is connected to Zynga’s Chicago office.
Curiosity about both the technical and artistic aspects of game development
Solid understanding of the Unity game engine
Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
Understanding of C# or other high level programming languages
Attention to detail when working with art assets
Ability to think creatively about internal processes and improvements
Bonus Points:
Shader building and modifying skills
Animation knowledge (timeline based and particle animations)
Scripting work that integrates into Photoshop/Unity/Maya
