Position Overview:

The UI/UX Design Intern will

  • Join the Words With Friends UX team and contribute to a dynamic, fast-paced environment while learning from experienced professionals.
  • Collaborate closely with Game Designers, Product Managers, Engineers, and Producers to conceptualize, design, and implement feature interactions, UI elements, and UX flows.
  • Play a direct role in shaping designs that will be integrated into a live product, influencing the experience of millions of players.
  • Gain valuable exposure to the processes, teamwork, and culture behind the beloved social mobile word game with over 15 years of history and success!

What You'll Do:

  • Collaborate closely with UX designers and cross-functional teams to conceptualize, design, and refine features from initial ideation to final implementation.
  • Rapidly iterate on ideas through sketches, low- and high-fidelity wireframes, and prototypes as needed, ensuring a player-centred design process.
  • Effectively present design concepts to stakeholders, articulating the vision and rationale to secure feedback and approval.
  • Partner with Engineers and Technical Artists to implement UI directly in Unity, ensuring designs are executed to specification and meet quality standards.
  • Deliver user interfaces that are engaging, effective, memorable, and polished, elevating the overall user experience. 

What You Bring: 

  • A solid foundation and knowledge of UI/UX design principles, and proficiency in wireframing and prototyping is a plus
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with designers and cross-disciplinary teams.
  • Experience using Figma or similar design tools to create impactful designs.
  • Enthusiasm for learning new tools and processes and implementing UI directly in Unity.

  • You must be currently enrolled in an accredited program, and pursuing an undergraduate degree.
  • You are available to work onsite at the Toronto office 4 days a week for the duration of the internship.
  • You are eager to learn, be proactive, and thrive in collaborative environments.

  • You have a passion for games of all kinds and bring that enthusiasm and insight to your work.
