About the Role
We’re looking for a Solutions Engineer who thrives at the intersection of technology, business strategy, and customer experience. In this highly collaborative and customer-facing role, you’ll work closely with Sales and Customer Experience (CX) teams to identify customer needs and design provider-agnostic, scalable solutions. Reporting to the VP, Solutions Engineering, you’ll present to technical teams as well as C-suite decision-makers, ensuring our solutions meet both technical requirements and business outcomes.
This role is ideal for someone who is both technically deep and commercially aware—someone who enjoys solving complex problems, communicating clearly, and making a tangible impact on revenue and customer success.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead technical discovery sessions to understand customer requirements and current-state architectures.
- Design and present tailored, provider-agnostic solutions across a variety of domains, including:
- SD-WAN / SASE
- UCaaS / CCaaS
- Network Security & Firewalls
- Data Center & Cloud Infrastructure
- Network Transport & IoT
- Present proposed architectures to C-level executives and technical stakeholders in a consultative manner.
- Collaborate with Sales and CX teams to identify new business opportunities and upsell potential within existing accounts.
- Translate complex technical concepts into clear, value-driven business narratives.
- Create supporting documentation (e.g., solution designs, scopes of work, presentation decks).
- Ensure seamless handoff and coordination with implementation and support teams.
- Stay current on industry trends and emerging technologies; become a subject matter expert in key focus areas.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of solution playbooks, tools, and team processes.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years in a telecom, technology, or network-focused Solutions Engineering or Sales Engineering role.
- Deep expertise in designing solutions for:
- SD-WAN / SASE architectures
- UCaaS / CCaaS environments
- Cloud & data center infrastructure
- Network security (firewalls, segmentation, etc.)
- Network transport technologies
- Strong communication skills with the ability to present to both executive and technical audiences.
- Experience supporting technical sales cycles and cross-functional deal execution.
- Excellent documentation and presentation-building skills.
- High attention to detail and strong project follow-through.
- A collaborative, self-starting attitude and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
- Ability to learn quickly and adapt to changing technologies and market dynamics.
Additional Requirements
- Industry certifications (e.g., AWS, Azure, CCNP, Palo Alto, Fortinet, etc.)
- Experience with IoT architectures and use cases
- Familiarity with CRM tools like Salesforce or HubSpot
- Background working in high-growth, agile, or startup environments
- Proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth environment with shifting priorities
- Highly motivated and competitive; driven to win and deliver results
- Entrepreneurial mindset with a bias toward action; comfortable with ambiguity and rapid change
- Strong problem-solving skills with a customer-first, solutions-oriented approach
- Excellent collaboration skills; willing to contribute beyond formal job scope
- Ability to work across time zones, with occasional travel as needed
- Resides within PST or MST time zones
Salary Range
Employees new to UPSTACK typically come in at the start of the pay range. UPSTACK focuses on providing a simple and transparent pay structure, which is based on a variety of factors, including location, experience, and job-related skills.
The base salary range for this role is currently under review, as we recognize that the right candidate will help shape the scope and level of the position. While we don’t have a finalized range at this time, we invite you to share your preferred salary expectations, and we’ll take that into thoughtful consideration as part of the process. This role also includes participation in our annual bonus plan.
