Within Fulfillment, the Production Team focuses on the digital systems that enable efficient production processes — orchestrating how ingredients and components come together to create the final HelloFresh box. We develop the technology backbone that ensures our production operations run smoothly, reliably and flexibly.

The role

As a Senior Backend Engineer in the Production Team, you’ll play a key role in shaping and scaling the systems that power the operational processes behind every HelloFresh box.

You’ll be part of a cross-functional team developing backend services that orchestrate real-time production and fulfillment workflows, primarily using Python and C#/.NET within our ServiceStack-based architecture.

You’ll collaborate closely with engineers, product managers, and operations experts to translate real-world production challenges into elegant, efficient, and resilient software solutions.
This is a hands-on role where you’ll design, build, and operate systems that have a direct impact on how HelloFresh fulfills customer orders every day.

What you’ll do

  • Design, develop, and maintain backend services powering HelloFresh’s production systems.
  • Work primarily with Python and C#/.NET, leveraging our ServiceStack-based service architecture.
  • Take ownership of the full development lifecycle — from implementation to deployment and ongoing operations — following DevOps and CI/CD principles.
  • Collaborate closely with a cross-functional agile team, including product, frontend, data, and operations, to deliver impactful production solutions.
  • Contribute to system reliability, scalability, and performance improvements.
  • Participate in architectural discussions and help refine our technical direction as we continue to evolve our production technology.
  • Mentor team members, share knowledge, and advocate for best engineering practices across the team.

What you’ll bring

  • Strong backend development experience with Python and C#/.NET (both required).
  • Experience with microservice or service-oriented architectures, ideally using ServiceStack.
  • Solid understanding of DevOps and CI/CD principles, and experience with containerized environments (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Familiarity with event-driven or message-based systems (e.g. RabbitMQ).
  • Strong knowledge of software design principles, TDD/BDD/DDD, and distributed system patterns.
  • Experience working with relational databases such as PostgreSQL.
  • A collaborative mindset and passion for mentoring, continuous learning, and process improvement.
  • A proactive, curious, and solution-oriented approach to problem-solving.
