DESCRIPTION: The Commercial Insights and Incentives Risk Lead is responsible for ensuring that the intersection of technology, strategy, vendor partnerships, and compliance is effectively managed within the organization. This role serves as a bridge between technical and strategy teams, overseeing contracts and relationships with external partners, while providing critical insights to leadership regarding legal and business risk factors. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in data governance, privacy, and strategic negotiation to the role, supporting growth opportunities and safeguarding Kroger and its stakeholders.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Tech to Commercial Translations: Translate complex product, privacy, data governance/security, and AI governance requirements into comprehensive agreements. Maintain regular, effective communication with foundational partners and others on commercial and contractual levels.
- Client Contract Redline Management:
- Serve as the primary contact for legal inquiries and redline management involving client contracts, NDAs, insertion orders (IOs), etc.
- Manage communications and reminders to Kroger legal teams.
- Provide business-to-business call interpretations to vendors and clients.
- Oversee platform assessments from clients and vendors pertaining to technological builds and service offerings.
- Negotiations: Collaborate with vendors and clients to secure beneficial terms and share gains through consistent, context-driven negotiations.
- Business Implication & Risk: Advise leadership and teams about distinctions between legal advice, legal requirements, and business risks, especially in relation to data management and campaign practices.
- Data Sharing Governance, Privacy Review Decision Maker & Lead Counsel: Oversee the presentation and feedback process with the legal team on privacy review requests, determining the level of risk associated with various business initiatives.
- Contract PM & Tech Evaluation: Lead the implementation of contracts management systems ensuring a thorough connection between contracts and compliance requirements.
- End to End Understanding: Serve as the subject matter expert for product offerings, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of product lifecycle, activation processes, and internal team collaboration for accurate contract representation.
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Law, Data Management, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in vendor relationship management, contract negotiation, or risk assessment in a media or data-intensive environment.
- Strong knowledge of data privacy regulations and compliance standards, including but not limited to GDPR and CCPA.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across diverse teams.
- Proven ability to analyze complex data and contracts to provide actionable insights and risk assessments.
- Experience with contract management systems and tools.
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.

- The stated salary range represents the entire span applicable across all geographic markets from lowest to highest. Actual salary offers will be determined by multiple factors including but not limited to geographic location, relevant experience, knowledge, skills, other job-related qualifications, and alignment with market data and cost of labor. In addition to salary, this position is also eligible for variable compensation.

$91,000 - $218,750 USD
