SUMMARY:
The AI/ML Patterns team at 84.51 is designing and developing best-practice patterns and tooling for AI and ML applications. We synthesize the latest and best in AI and ML, build foundational tooling and reusable patterns, and drive adoption by technical users to transform the Kroger enterprise.
As a Sr. AI Engineer on the AI/ML Patterns team, you will be an expert in GenAI end Embeddings patterns . You will become an expert in developing Reusable Science Patterns to accelerate the release of and promote best practices in AI systems like agents and pre-defined architectures like retrieval-augmented generation (RAG). You will leverage your expertise to understand and align on development requirements, consult with internal AI experts on best practices, develop reusable patterns, and upskill the team on developed patterns. Partnering with the other members of the team, you will work to maintain up-to-date knowledge on AI patterns and workflows. This role requires a and excellent software development skills.
You will be successful if you develop patterns that help data scientists and engineers generate new value, develop their projects faster, promote best practices, and reduce risk in AI and ML systems.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop tools and patterns to streamline enterprise adoption of AI workflows
- Develop patterns for common AI projects such as agents, RAG systems, evaluation, tracing, etc.
- Partner closely with customer-facing data scientists and product managers to design and prioritize the development of new and updated AI patterns
- Develop guidance and other enablement materials designed to increase knowledge of and usage of AI workflows and patterns
- Manage the lifecycle of deployed, in-production AI patterns
- Establish yourself as a subject matter expert in AI development patterns by maintaining industry-standard knowledge and familiarity with best practices and tools
- Challenge and improve enterprise AI practice
QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE:
- Professional experience in AI systems and applications
- Professional experience in AI patterns and workflows like agents and RAG
- Professional experience in cloud data platforms (e.g. Databricks, Databricks Asset Bundles)
- Professional experience in data development with Apache Spark
- Professional experience with internally developed tooling like Python libraries
- Skilled in open-source AI and ML programming languages (Python, SQL, etc.)
- Skilled in AI deployment best practices and tooling (e.g. real-time serving, batch deployments, etc.)
- Skilled in AI system operations (e.g. evaluation, tracing, etc.)
- Skilled in AI operations tooling, especially Unity Catalog and MLflow
- Skilled in API development
- Skilled in software development lifecycle and best practices, including CI/CD via GitHub Actions
- Skilled in quickly learning new technologies and best practices
- Skilled in turning highly complex and technical workflows into approachable patterns and templates
- Demonstrated excellence as a teammate
- 2-4 years of relevant experience
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in a technical field (computer science, software engineering, mathematics, statistics, economics, or similar discipline) or equivalent experience

- The stated salary range represents the entire span applicable across all geographic markets from lowest to highest. Actual salary offers will be determined by multiple factors including but not limited to geographic location, relevant experience, knowledge, skills, other job-related qualifications, and alignment with market data and cost of labor. In addition to salary, this position is also eligible for variable compensation.

Pay Range
$67,000 - $181,250 USD
