Account Development Manager
About the Role
The Account Development Manager plays a critical role at the front end of our commercial motion, serving as the “front door” for inbound leads. This position is designed for someone who enjoys turning activity into real opportunity—not just passing leads along.
This is a quota-carrying role with a transactional focus, real commercial responsibility, and a formal reporting relationship to the SAE. It is credible as either a long-term role or a steppingstone into senior sales or account management positions.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the first point of contact for inbound leads.
- Engage new and existing customers to understand needs and intent.
- Qualify opportunities using structured frameworks (e.g., BANT).
- Handle basic equipment sizing and capability matching.
- Generate fast, accurate quotes for transactional opportunities.
- Independently own and close smaller deals.
- Advance larger or complex opportunities to senior sellers with clear context.
- Maintain a disciplined pipeline and execute timely follow-up.
- Collaborate closely with a Senior Strategic Account Executive for coaching and escalation support.
- Ensure accurate and up-to-date pipeline data.
Scope and Accountability
- Carry a personal quota reflecting the transactional nature of the role.
- Receive credit and incentive participation for opportunities successfully advanced and closed by senior sellers.
- Focus on quality—advancing the right opportunities matters more than advancing everything.
Qualifications
- 2–3 years of experience in inside sales, sales development, or service-based commercial roles.
- Helpful to have experience with calibration and technical products.
- Strong digital marketing skills, including email and presentation capabilities for customer engagement.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to learn technical concepts without being a deep technical expert.
- Comfortable qualifying and closing transactional business.
- Organized, persistent, and responsive.
Compensation
- Base Salary $60,000–$70,000 + Incentives
- Incentives split: 50% from direct selling, 50% from qualifying/referring opportunities.
What Success Looks Like
- Transactional opportunities are closed quickly and cleanly.
- Larger opportunities are advanced with clear context and intent.
- Senior sellers trust the quality of the opportunities you pass forward.
- Customers feel understood and well served early in the process.
- Pipeline data is accurate and up to date.
