We are seeking a detail-oriented and eager Associate Data Engineer to join our team in supporting data automation and performance reporting initiatives. In this role, you will design and maintain automation scripts and tools using Python, Java, and VBScript to streamline data workflows and reporting processes. You will work closely with SCADA systems, IoT devices, APIs, and databases to ensure reliable and efficient data acquisition.
Responsibilities
- Uphold a high level of safety standards in everything that you do
- Design, write, and maintain automation scripts and tools in Python, Java, and VBScript to handle data extraction, transformation, and reporting workflows.
- Develop and maintain automated routines to interface with SCADA systems, IoT devices, APIs, and databases for reliable data acquisition.
- Build and enhance Power BI dashboards and custom visualizations to present key performance indicators (KPIs) and O&M metrics.
- Create reusable code modules and maintain version control using Git or similar repositories.
- Identify repetitive engineering and reporting tasks and develop automation solutions to reduce manual effort.
- Collaborate with senior engineers and the IT/SCADA team to integrate automation solutions into the existing monitoring infrastructure.
- Support monthly generation of client-ready performance reports with validated, automated data sets.
- Assist in performing technical audits by developing scripts for anomaly detection, performance benchmarking, and compliance checks.
- Stay up to date with new automation frameworks, coding standards, and best practices to continuously improve the company’s automation capabilities.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Proficiency in scripting and programming languages such as Python, Java, and VBScript.
- Experience working with SCADA systems, IoT devices, APIs, and relational databases for data acquisition and integration.
- Knowledge of data validation techniques and generating reports
- Hands-on experience with Power BI for building dashboards and visualizing operational metrics.
- Familiarity with version control systems such as Git for managing code and collaboration.
- Demonstrated ability to identify and automate repetitive tasks using custom scripts or tools.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and data accuracy.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, especially in cross-functional engineering and IT teams.
- Commitment to maintaining high safety standards in all aspects of work.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with automation frameworks and scripting for anomaly detection or performance benchmarking.
Physical Requirements/Work Environment:
- Ability to work at a computer workstation for extended periods (up to 8 hours per day).
- Manual dexterity to operate a keyboard, mouse, and other standard office equipment.
