Off-Road Prototype Install Shop Manger

Horsepower Automotive Group, a leader in the automotive aftermarket industry with multiple off-road and overlanding brands such as: Addictive Desert Designs, C4 Fabrication, Rago Fabrication, DV8 Off-Road and Flat Line Van co, has a working management position opening in our Prototype Install / Test fit department. Hardworking, positive team players will excel in being involved in the continuous development and introduction of new innovative products into the market. Strong attention to detail and organization skills are a must. Previous fabrication and automotive mechanical experience are essential to the success of this role.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to removal and installation of products, creating installation guides for our customers to use when installing products, evaluation of production readiness and observing/reporting potential improvement opportunities for production consistency. The department will also use 3D scanning tools to scan vehicle data for engineering use and scan finished products to look for accuracy in manufacturing.  This position is essential to the success of new product releases and requires team collaboration throughout the process.

 

Summary of Key Responsibilities

Responsibilities and essential job functions include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Perform test fits of prototype parts and verify functionality of associated factory equipped features
  • Ability maintain company owned vehicles to be ready for events
  • Provide technical installation assistance to CSR team when needed
  • Install general aftermarket parts – Such as bumpers, LED lighting, intercoolers, etc.
  • 12V wiring including lighting, winches, etc. – Must have basic/prior automotive electrical knowledge
  • Create installation guides during the process of test fitting new products to be published on the companies’ websites.
  • Manage a small team of install technicians to help with the department functions
  • Maintain a NPD/Install schedule and work directly with Brand Manager to ensure all new product launches remain on schedule
  • Work with Brand Managers to schedule projects in the R&D area
  • Assist with logistics in acquiring/delivering vehicles used for R&D purposes
  • Must have a clean driving record and be able to use company vehicles/trailers
  • Assist in quality control inspections throughout production
  • Assembly of finished goods

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Some metal fabrication skills are necessary for this position.
  • Welding skills are a must – You will be asked to complete a welding test at your interview
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced work environment
  • Self-motivated, assertive, and responds to production metrics
  • Must be mechanical and able to work with hands and hand tools
  • Must have prior automotive electrical knowledge
  • Contributes to building a positive team spirit and puts success of team above own interests
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently
  • Must be computer literate and able to use normal MS office tools
  • Must be familiar with 3D modeling software (eDrawings, SolidWorks)

Summary of Experience and Education

  • High school Diploma or GED
  • Minimum of two years management experience managing a team
  • Minimum of two years experience with project planning and complex job scheduling
  • Minimum of two years mechanical hands-on experience in the automotive industry
  • Minimum of two years 3D Modeling software hands-on experience


Compensation

Salary: $68,000 - $70,000 per year

Hours are 7:00 to 4:00 pm weekdays with minimum after-hours requirements

Benefits available after 60-day probation period

Job is full-time on location at our main facility in Chandler, Arizona
