Treasury Manager

We are looking for a Treasury Manager to join the Merchant Finance & Treasury team in Amsterdam. As Merchant Finance & Treasury we are the financial backbone of Adyen; optimizing and automating financial processes for scale, mitigating risks, and enabling growth through customer-centricity, operational excellence, innovation and integrity.

The Treasury sub-team aims to support the smooth and stable functioning of Adyen’s core payment and embedded financial product offering by prudently managing liquidity, funding, foreign exchange (FX), interest rate and counterparty concentration risk. In addition, Treasury facilitates Adyen’s growth by acting as a strategic partner in identifying the impact of future developments on Adyen’s (treasury) operations and balance sheet. To carry on these duties, our team has been split in several focus areas, balance sheet management (BSM) being one of them.

As a Treasury Manager, you will focus on managing Adyen’s balance sheet and the relevant financial risks. You will do this together with a high performing team of treasury analysts and are responsible for maturing the team further. Maturing the team means you will help the team in solving daily operational and strategic challenges, whilst simultaneously building for the long-term. 

As such, you will guide the team members to strive for automation, to improve operational processes and to navigate the development of new tools and insights. Finally, you will provide strategic direction, align with stakeholders and drive projects. In this role you will ensure that our teams are fully prepared to support Adyen’s growth and new financial products in a scalable and controlled way.

What you’ll do

  • Support, enable and challenge the team in improving our governance structure, processes and tools to get insights into Adyen’s balance sheet positions; draw conclusions and recommendations for optimization and automation;
  • Partner with our (technical) teams to act upon these insights; design tools,  automate processes, as well as having up to date controls and monitoring in place; 
  • Ensure the team is using data  in a scalable way to enhance insights into our key financial and operational metrics; 
  • Provide internal stakeholders with those insights to influence strategic decision making;
  • Support the team on a daily basis to ensure operations run  business-as-usual, whilst being available to the team through incident management.
  • Support commercial deal teams in RfPs, go to market strategies and other pricing discussions on financial products and with products which have a liquidity and/or interest rate component.
  • Manage project lifecycle from start to finish; 
  • Build relationships with both internal and external stakeholders to ensure effective management and communication of progress to all parties. 
  • Lead intercompany activities, including the collaboration with Legal and Tax on strategies for legal entity funding/repatriation and capital structures.

Who you are

  • 7-10 years work experience with scaling / maturing of (operational) teams, setting-up complex (ideally technical) processes; 
  • Experience with process improvement, optimisation and/or automation is required;
  • Ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously in a fast-paced environment;
  • Ability to execute and deliver quality results, including managing projects, developing strategy, working collaboratively, influencing senior leadership and distilling complex ideas into clear communications;
  • Experience in corporate / banking treasury managing financial risks (liquidity, funding, FX, interest rate risk) is a requirement.
