Job Summary
LA Galaxy Academy is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Performance Coach to lead and support the physical development, athletic performance, and long-term progression of academy players across multiple age groups. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and evaluating comprehensive performance programs focused on strength and conditioning, speed development, movement quality, injury risk reduction, and recovery strategies that prepare athletes for advancement throughout the LA Galaxy development pathway. Reporting to the Head Athletic Development and Performance Coach, this role will collaborate within a multidisciplinary high-performance environment, working closely with coaches, sports medicine staff and sports scientists. The Performance Coach plays a key part in delivering an integrated athlete development model that ensures players are physically prepared to train, compete, and reach their full potential. The ideal candidate will contribute to a high-performance culture that emphasizes athlete health, objective performance monitoring, continuous improvement, and long-term player development.
Essential Functions
- Create and implement age‑appropriate strength, power, speed, agility, and conditioning programs for all academy age groups, including daily gym‑based training.
- Execute daily athlete monitoring using GPS (Catapult), VALD systems, and other assessment tools to track training loads and physical outputs.
- Coordinate and administer seasonal and periodic performance testing, ensuring accurate data collection and reporting.
- Analyze objective data to guide training adjustments, track athlete development, and maintain detailed performance records.
- Work closely with academy coaches, athletic trainers, and medical staff to align on player development plans, availability, and training loads.
- Assist in designing and delivering return‑to‑play and return‑to‑performance progressions for injured athletes.
- Lead pre‑training and matchday warm‑ups, activation routines, recovery strategies, and other performance‑related preparations.
- Provide performance support during academy matches, tournaments, camps, and travel as required.
- Produce and distribute daily training reports summarizing athlete readiness, training loads, and key performance insights.
Required Qualifications
- BA/BS Degree (4-year) (Advanced Degree Preferred) in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Sports Performance, or related field.
- 2-4 years
- Related work experience
- Working with youth, academy, collegiate, or professional athletes.
- Strong understanding of strength and conditioning, speed development, and long-term athletic development.
- Experience administering and interpreting performance testing.
- Ability to communicate effectively with athletes, coaches, medical staff, and parents.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Experience within professional soccer academies or elite youth development environments.
- Familiarity with GPS, athlete monitoring systems, ForceDecks, VALD technologies, or similar performance tools.
- Knowledge of soccer-specific physical development models.
- Previous playing experience in soccer at the collegiate, professional, academy, or elite youth level is strongly preferred.
- Bilingual in Spanish and/ or French is a plus

Payscale: $72,000.00
Bonus: This position is Not eligible for a bonus under the current bonus plan requirements.
