Revenue Cycle / AR, Credit & Billing Manager

Tampa, FL

About AFC

At AFC, you're a name, not a number. We're a family-owned, women-owned transportation and logistics company headquartered in Tampa, FL, moving freight nationwide through our asset and brokerage operations. We're growing fast and building our own AI-powered operating platform, not just buying tools. We promote from within, and our leadership knows your name. If you want to build something, not just fill a seat, you'll fit in here.

The role

Own the full order-to-cash cycle across AFC Transport and AFC Logistics, from customer credit and billing through collections and cash application. Reporting to the Controller, you'll lead a three-person billing and collections team and make sure every load is billed correctly, credit risk is managed, and cash comes in predictably.

What you'll do

  • Own customer setup, credit applications, credit decisions, and credit holds within approved authority.
  • Drive accurate, timely billing across two McLeod environments, capture all accessorial charges, and provide backup coverage for billing.
  • Oversee daily cash application and lead weekly AR aging reviews to set collection priorities and reduce past-due balances.
  • Resolve customer disputes and short-pays, and serve as the escalation point for balances over 60 days and problem accounts.
  • Own month-end AR close and reconciliation, report on DSO and collections performance, and recommend reserves and write-offs to the Controller.
  • Lead, coach, and develop two Billing Specialists and one Collections & Cash Application Specialist using clear goals and scorecards.

What you bring

  • 5+ years in AR, credit, and collections, including at least 3 years managing a team of 3+ direct reports.
  • 3+ years in transportation or logistics AR, with knowledge of freight billing, PODs, rate confirmations, accessorials, customer portals, and factoring remittances.
  • Hands-on ownership of credit applications, credit limits, holds, and credit tools such as Ansonia, D&B, or Creditsafe.
  • Multi-entity AR experience, including month-end close, reconciliation, bad debt reserves, and cash forecast inputs, with a track record of managing DSO, aging, unapplied cash, and dispute resolution.
  • Experience with a transportation management system and QuickBooks or Intuit Enterprise Suite, plus advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookups, and aging analysis.

Nice to have

  • McLeod experience and AR experience spanning both freight brokerage and asset carrier operations.
  • A bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or business; equivalent experience is welcome.
  • NACM credit credentials (CBA, CCRA, or CCE) or TIA Certified Transportation Broker certification.

What you get

  • Competitive base pay of $75K to $100K
  • Medical, dental, vision, and 401(k), with coverage starting the first of the month after 60 days
  • 80 hours of PTO per year
  • Weekly pay
  • A clear path to grow, with leaders who know your name

Where you'll work

This role is based at AFC's Tampa headquarters, 1120 E Kennedy Blvd. Office-based work with extended computer use and occasional lifting up to 15 lbs. Some extended hours may be needed during month-end close.

Our process

A phone screen with People & Talent, a short Predictive Index assessment, an interview with the hiring manager, and a final conversation with leadership.
