Ideally, this position will be based in based in our Sydney CBD Office.

We're open to a hybrid working style; spend time in the office and at home.  

Reporting to:

Senior Manager, Commercial. 

The role:

This position plays a supporting role in implementing market strategy, identifying and executing new business development opportunities, commercial negotiations for project agreements, and executing on our contracted revenue streams.

Key responsibilities will include:

Market Strategy

  • Assist in monitoring market trends, policy, and regulatory developments, as well as the competitive landscape, to help identify potential business opportunities
  • Provide support in researching and analysing new markets, including tracking regulatory and policy developments
  • Help conduct market research and analysis to spot emerging trends, risks, and opportunities in the battery energy storage market
  • Assist in coordinating internal efforts across Akaysha’s technical, market, finance, and legal teams to provide input on regulatory developments
  • Support with Akaysha’s procurement strategy, helping with the development of procurement processes and ensuring alignment with business objectives

Business Development Opportunities

  • Working closely with the Development and Delivery team (and other pillars), to identify, analyse new market opportunities in Australia, specifically focused on commercial opportunities to partner with developers, landowners, NSPs
  • Supporting in the preparation of opportunity proposals to the Investment Committee
  • Help with the coordination of deal structuring, including gathering input from various Akaysha pillars for commercial opportunities, and supporting the drafting of term sheets and MOUs
  • Participating in monthly BD opportunity workshops to gain exposure to commercial strategies and initiatives
  • Assist in preparing and presenting (together with Development and Delivery team) business development opportunity bi-monthly updates to Executive/Leadership team

Commercial Negotiations 

  • Assist with the coordination and review of commercial terms for project documents, including battery supply agreements and balance of plant agreements, under the guidance of senior team members
  • Support the identification and analysis of potential risks across project documents
  • Collaborate with legal, technical, and finance teams to ensure project documents reflect Akaysha’s commercial and operational goals and that commercial timelines align with project development and FID timelines
  • Assist in managing timelines and sequencing for early-stage commercial discussions, term sheets, and documentation in line with external and internal schedules
  • Help maintain strong relationships with suppliers by assisting in communication and coordination efforts

Contracted Revenue Strategy 

  • Assist in the origination and execution of offtake agreements, supporting senior team members in offtake design workshops and contributing to the development of strategies
  • Provide support in researching, evaluating, and helping to implement new offtake products and offerings, such as traditional FCAS services, trading/arbitrage, tolling, and financial hedge products. Assist with exploring strategic partnerships with offtakers and wholesalers to identify value-driven products
  • Help prepare materials and presentations for contracted revenue opportunities and bi-monthly offtake updates for the Executive/Leadership team
  • Provide support in organising and coordinating cross-pillar efforts for government tender opportunities, including System Strength RIT-Ts and Capacity Investment Scheme submissions
  • Assist in maintaining relationships with a network of potential offtakers, including gentailers, retailers, traders, financial intermediaries, and corporates

What you'll bring:

  • 4+ yrs experience, in a similar position.
  • An ability to collect, analyse and interpret complex commercial and technical information
  • Strong interpersonal skills, and a great team player
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to organise and time manage among competing priorities
  • An ability to prepare clear, concise, and accurate reports and presentations for internal and external stakeholders
  • Self-starter, hunger to learn, ability to deal with ambiguity and able to adapt and thrive
  • Evidence of strong performance in team-oriented environments
  • An ability to communicate and collaborate with both technical and non-technical parties
