Reporting to:

General Manager, Delivery Japan 

The role:

The Senior Project Engineer will be responsible for Akaysha Energy's growing portfolio of BESS projects in Japan. They will be involved in all stages of project planning, design management, project relevant documentations, site visits, permitting and technical support and system commissioning during construction phase and project handover. This role will be based preferably in Tokyo; with travel to site expected, as required.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Review and manage all aspects of design include civil, structural, electrical, and mechanical
  • Assist in project scheduling, cost tracking and quality assurance during the project execution stage
  • Manage the EPC contractor and system integrator through all stages of the project
  • Manage relationships with key external stakeholders including but not limited to JV partners, METI, OCCTO, EPCO’s, EPC and System Integrator
  • Prepare and maintain all project technical and quality documentations
  • Develop and improve all the relevant construction management documentations including but not limited to project specification, HSE and Quality
  • Undertake site visits to complete QAQC and HSE audits and reporting
  • Provide on-time project reporting to the construction team and external clients
  • Assist General Manager, Delivery, Japan in preparing budget estimates
  • Collaborate with team members when necessary to ensure effective communication and results

What you'll bring:

  • Qualifications – A degree in solar or Electrical Engineering or a related engineering science – Masters in Power Systems would be highly advantageous
  • At least 4 years’ experience as an engineer the renewables industry – other large scale infrastructure construction industries will be considered
  • Experience in the design, construction, and commissioning of PV power plants, BESS or wind would be an advantage
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite and MS project
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Assertive, able to cope with pressure, a team player, prepared to travel
  • Previous experience managing projects from initial design to installation and execution is preferred
  • Experience in permitting processes with local authorities having jurisdiction is preferred
  • Business level Japanese is required, and high level of English would be highly advantageous
