Backed by BlackRock, we’re a portfolio company under Global Infrastructure Partners working to make clean, reliable energy accessible around the world. But what we are really building is a better future for everyone we share the planet with.
As a Senior Electrical Engineer reporting to the General Manager, Project Design, you’ll lead the design and delivery of high-voltage systems for our battery energy storage solutions (BESS). This is a full-time, hybrid role, based in our Cremorne, Melbourne office, 2-3 days per week (also open to Sydney or Brisbane).
What you’ll do
- Lead the design and delivery of electrical, mechanical, and control systems for multi-megawatt BESS projects, including concept layouts, SLDs, cable schedules, and technical specifications.
- Manage engineering input through feasibility (Gate Review), contractor selection, and project execution—overseeing design reviews, supplier assessments, and BoP contractor deliverables.
- Liaise with AEMO, Network Service Providers, and contractors to ensure compliance and performance across primary and secondary electrical systems, grid connection, and commissioning.
- Provide on-the-ground support during construction and commissioning, including technical troubleshooting, FAT/SAT attendance, hold point testing, and root cause analysis.
- Contribute to continuous improvement through technical template updates, FMEA workshops, asset management planning, and maintenance and operations oversight.
What you’ll bring
- Formal qualifications in electrical, power systems, or electronic engineering
- Demonstrated experience in utility-scale energy storage systems, renewable energy projects or transmission system design and delivery.
- Strong technical knowledge in HV substation and grid connection design
- An understanding of SCADA and substation communications
- Extensive technical knowledge of engineering systems, calculations, methods, and materials applications
- Experience and demonstrated knowledge of primary and secondary electrical system design for renewable generators and HV substations
- Comfortable collaborating across teams and managing external partners
