AKKO is seeking a strategic and driven Director of Fintech & Benefits Partnerships to accelerate our growth through indirect partnerships in the financial services and employee benefits sectors. Reporting directly to the COO, this individual will serve as the dedicated owner of business development efforts across these channels, identifying, pitching, and closing new consumer-facing distribution opportunities. We’re looking for someone who brings deep connectivity in the fintech and benefits ecosystems, thrives in fast-paced startup environments, and knows how to turn conversations into revenue-generating deals.
THE DAY-TO-DAY
- Identify, develop, and close high-impact indirect partnerships that drive user acquisition through fintech and employee benefit platforms.
- Own the full BD lifecycle — from sourcing and pitching to negotiating and closing distribution deals.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with sales, product, and marketing to align GTM plans, structure agreements, and ensure successful implementation.
- Develop and manage a robust partnership pipeline, with clear prioritization frameworks and forecasting based on market trends.
- Deeply understand AKKO’s value proposition and tailor it to the needs of various fintech and benefits players, across direct-to-consumer and B2B2C distribution models.
- Explore and apply AI-driven tools for partner targeting, lead qualification, and market intelligence to accelerate deal sourcing and enhance strategic decision-making.
- Represent AKKO externally, attending relevant industry events, building relationships with key decision-makers, and maintaining a visible presence in the fintech and benefits ecosystems.
- Drive revenue performance by tracking, reporting on, and consistently exceeding monthly and quarterly revenue targets through strategic partner development, pipeline management, and cross-functional collaboration.
WHAT MAKES YOU QUALIFIED
- 5–10 years of experience in business development, sales, or partnerships roles, ideally at high-growth startups or tech-enabled services businesses.
- Proven ability to close deals independently — from first call to signature — with a track record of sourcing and winning consumer distribution partnerships.
- Established network in fintech, insurtech, benefits, or embedded finance (e.g., relationships with neobanks, employee benefit aggregators, challenger payroll providers, etc.).
- Experience negotiating complex commercial agreements with legal, finance, and compliance stakeholders.
- Strong strategic thinking and commercial acumen, with the ability to evaluate partnership models that balance growth and sustainability.
- Proficiency in sales forecasting, reporting, and data analysis, with the ability to translate data into insight and action.
- Comfortable working in a scrappy, fast-paced startup environment where ambiguity is the norm and impact is measured by outcomes.
- An all-around team player and fast, self-directed learner who thrives in a collaborative environment and adapts quickly.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills — you're as comfortable pitching a C-suite exec as you are digging into integration requirements with a PM.
- Willingness to travel for partner meetings, industry events, and team offsites.
The base salary for this position ranges from $125,000 to $165,000. Total compensation for this position is $200,000 or higher. Individual compensation varies based on job-related factors, including business needs, experience, level of responsibility and qualifications.
