Senior Manufacturing Test Engineer

Summary

Alarm.com is seeking a Manufacturing Test Engineer to apply his/her technical knowhows and commitment to quality to help design, build, test and validate product and system testing, ranging from stand-alone test stations to multi-station production lines. As part of a small, hardworking and accomplished team of experts, you will directly support our success and act as a key technical interface between the product development engineering teams and our manufacturing value-added partners. As a manufacturing test engineer, you will lead the effort setting up and programing test equipment to ensure the manufactured products meet the design intent as well as working with various cross-functional teams jointly responsible for manufacturing, test and analysis to troubleshoot design/build problems throughout the product lifecycle.

Key Qualifications

  • BS degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Electronic Engineering
  • 6+ years of hands-on experiences on manufacturing test for consumer or commercial electronic products designed to be mass manufacturable.
  • Professional language proficiency in English and Mandarin Chinese
  • Ability for as needed pan-Asian and US travel

Duties to be Performed

  • Support Product Managers and Product Development Engineering Teams on the development of product testing requirements and sequences for various electronic products including camera products, wireless communications products, and AP/gateway/bridge products.
  • Program and set up function & performance test stations based on established testing requirements and sequences.
  • Partner with Production Engineers on developing test fixtures required by the manufacturing testing and on setting up manufacturing test environment & system test stations for a given product.
  • Adjust and enhance manufacturing testing methodology & setup to continuously improve production testing efficiency & effectiveness and optimize costs for manufacturing test for a given product and its production line.
  • Study and propose opportunities for DFM (manufacture), DFC (cost), DFT (testing), and DFA (automation) improvements.
  • Lead the team effort with manufacturing partners on programing and optimizing automated manufacturing tests.
  • Work with Production Engineers and Product Managers to review the entire manufacturing test system and related documents to be handed over to manufacturing partners.
  • Coordinate with Production Engineers and Quality Engineers to validate and to ensure that the manufacturing environment and manufacturing test setup at the production site are constructed according to the requirements and are ready for mass production.
  • Team up with Quality Engineers and manufacturing partners to analyze production testing failures and to continuously improve production testing yields.
  • Other duties as assigned.  

Requirements for this Position

  • Proven experience in CLI (Command Line Interface) on various testing environments and in Python test scripts and MatLab.
  • Demonstrated understanding of all aspects of testing requirements for various electronic products especially camera products, wireless communications (including but not limited to WiFi, Bluetooth, Zigbee, Z-Wave and NFC) products and AP/gateway/bridge products.
  • Experienced in constructing professional quality test specifications, test setup, and test reports.
  • Expertise in developing test flow control (e.g., AAB test flow) to interact with manufacturing partners’ shopfloor system, and in setting up and programing test equipment for various consumer and commercial products.
  • Proficiency in various application software such as Excel and PowerPoint for effective communication on subject matters with various stakeholders.
  • Established engineering capabilities in debugging production testing failures with effective engineering fixes for resolving/improving related problems.
  • Good understanding of quality, reliability, and compliance requirements.
  • Professional written, verbal, and presentation skills in English and in Chinese with the ability to effectively communicate with the stakeholders.
