Position Overview

If you are an analytical, technically savvy, recent MIS, IT or Engineering graduate with an interest in starting a career in IT Consulting and Critical Infrastructure Analysis, this may be an ideal career opportunity for you. Align seeks an entry level, recent college graduate. Any internship or entry level (on year or less) work experience with IT analysis or engineering, including IT Infrastructure, Data Center or MEP would be a plus, but is not required. This is a great opportunity to start your career and be a part of various IT Transformation and Data Center Strategy Programs. This role will provide broad experience including Critical Infrastructure Analysis, IT Infrastructure Analysis, Project Management and Consulting. This person will work with our Data Center Migration team focused on Data Center Strategy and Transformation to perform hands-on analysis of critical data center environments and the supporting mechanical and electrical infrastructure. You will work on "current state" to "future state" data center assessment projects and will learn about Facility Infrastructure and IT Infrastructure Transformation. This person will work with senior consultants to help perform hands-on current state assessment projects, including data center relocation planning for IT infrastructure migration and consolidation projects. This person will learn to manage complex projects, working in a matrix environment to plan, schedule and execute projects for various-sized enterprise clients (facility infrastructure, capacity planning, remediation analysis, IT appliances, etc.). This role is not a hands-on design role but will have a basic understanding of mechanical and/or electrical infrastructure in the context of a Data Center environment. The focus of the role in evaluating physical datacenter environments and facility infrastructure and determining strategies and plans to remediate, move or consolidate existing infrastructure to its ideal target state.

  • This role is based out of our Iselin, NJ office, but will primarily work remote. The position requires regular travel, based on client project requirements.
  • This is a full-time position offering full benefits, a base salary in the $60K to $68K range (commensurate with experience), paid training and performance-based bonuses.
 

Responsibilities

  • Learn to conduct business analysis functions to understand facility infrastructure dependencies and help create data center transformation strategies and plans for relocating or consolidating workloads. Data center transformation strategies may be executed using a combination of approaches including migrating to a new physical location, consolidating across existing environments or exiting and moving to the cloud.
  • Act as a Business Analyst on the team working with senior Project Managers or Technology Transformation consultants to drive technology infrastructure from “current state to future state” with a focus on data center transformation.
  • Work with senior team members to be a hands-on resource for Data Center Facility Analysis, Capacity Planning and Remediation Strategy.
  • Help to develop block diagrams and technical illustrations to support facility analysis and remediation recommendations.
  • Utilize and lead, when applicable, all manual processes such as workshops, facility manager meetings and engineering diagram analysis to gather required infrastructure specification and data center attributes.
  • Learn to lead and conduct workshops with Data Center Managers and work with Project Managers to formulate schedules and report on evaluation status.
  • Assist with the creation of Statements of Work and support the sales process.
  • Work with Project Mangers to help manage the project teams including; Align, the client and the vendors throughout the project.
  • Gather documentation and build and develop a delivery plan for all the work streams
  • Work as a hands-on resource to support data center walkthroughs and on-site assessments.
  • Advise clients on potential risk and manage client expectations.
  • Continually improve the process and framework and update our migration solution.
 

Qualifications

  • MIS, IT or Engineering related bachelor’s degree
  • Any relevant internship or work experience related to IT Infrastructure, Data Centers or MEP would be a plus.
  • Qualified individuals will be able to work successfully in fast-paced enterprise-level environments requiring exceptional written, verbal and presentation skills.
  • A general, holistic understanding of Data Center Facility Infrastructure (e.g., electrical systems, mechanical systems, structural systems, etc.) and IT infrastructure (e.g., server, storage, network, etc.).
  • A basic understanding of data center functions, technologies and interdependencies would be preferred.
  • A foundational understanding of public cloud models (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS) and providers (AWS, Azure, Google).
  • Basic experience working with critical MEP infrastructure or IT transformation projects, including facility assessment, migration and consolidation would be a plus.
  • Excellent communication, organization and writing skills are required.
  • Knowledge of MS Project, PowerPoint, Visio and Office tools to manage plans, charts, reports and documentation, etc.
  • Must be able to travel as needed.
