Position Overview
Align seeks an entrepreneurial AV Professional to join the AV Consulting practice within an established and expanding IT Services Firm. This professional will work on a team of AV Designers and Installers within our Workplace Technology business. The ideal candidate will have a passion to build upon an established and successful AV business. Preferred candidates will have worked in similar roles within an AV Integration, AV Consulting or Corporate AV environment.
- This is a full-time position offering a targeted base salary range of $130,000 to $150,000 (commensurate with experience), medical, dental, vison, 401K matching, paid training, paid time off, and performance-based bonuses
- This position will be based out of our New York City office; however, this person will be required to work at client locations in the New York metropolitan area. Some travel outside the tri-state area will be necessary within the United States (up to 15 percent)
Responsibilities
- Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for our AV Design Consulting Practice driving project and revenue growth objectives
- Act as a lead AV Designer to prepare audio visual/multimedia designs inclusive of audio, video, and controls in support of a broad base of project opportunities
- Consult with enterprise IT clients, perform pre-sales engineering and lead the technical AV design and proposal process: proposal development, bid/service contract pricing, Bill of Material, and material and labor estimates for proposals as needed pre-sales
- Provide project support and participation where appropriate on all levels of engagement, including: client administration, relationship building and technical delivery as needed
- Work with other design trades such as Architect, General Contractor, Furniture, MEP etc. to ensure accommodations for AV
- Provide expert input and know-how on both large-scale enterprise and SMB audio-visual transformation and guide clients in the development of optimal future/target state AV plans
- Responsible for audio visual (AV) design, including all phases of design and coordination from budgets, conceptual/schematic design through construction documents
- Prepare audio visual (AV) /Multimedia designs inclusive of audio, video, and control in support of a broad base of project opportunities
- Serve as a technical resource for others throughout the firm, providing thought leadership and subject matter expertise
- Research, develop and evaluate emerging technologies to maximize the firm’s services
- Work within a team environment to ensure work products are in adherence with Align’s quality standards and that all technology systems are incorporated into the overall AV system design
- Be sales minded and entrepreneurial to help grow our AV Consulting practice
- Be willing to leverage your professional network to grow the business, engage partners, enhance our solutions and support sales
Core Qualifications
In summary, we seek a sales minded individual with AV design experience, advanced AV/multimedia system and configuration skills and the desire to help grow a team of AV consultants and installers.
- A minimum of 5 to 7+ years of experience/knowledge designing and implementing corporate audio visual (AV) systems for large enterprise, SMB, Data Centers, Law, Hospitality, Higher Education, Retail, and Tech Industries
- CTS (Certified Technology Specialist) certification is required
- Prior experience working for an AV Integration or Consulting firm, or leading Corporate AV teams and implementation will be a significant advantage
- Worked on construction projects with budgets of $5M or more
- Knowledge of architectural drawings as they relate to technology, audio, video, data and control system design
- Understanding of AV at a software level i.e.: Conference Systems provisioning, room reservation systems, and CMS for digital signage
- Experience with the following software Bluebeam Revu, Microsoft Visio, EASE, Q-SYS Designer
- Candidates must be sales-minded and entrepreneurial with a desire to drive and support new sales team and effectively manage accounts
- Candidates must be able to communicate effectively, team and interact with executive level clients - strong consultative skills (organizational, communications, conceptualization, articulation, presentation, and facilitation) are essential
- Basic understanding of IP networking associated with the underlying transport technology for UC and Video - TCP/IP Routing and Switching, voice and video protocols
Preferred Qualifications
- CTS-D or CTS-I certification is preferred, but any Infocomm / Avixa certification would be beneficial
- CCNA / CCNP and a strong understanding of networking as related to AV such as: QoS for video, how to configure a VLAN, how to configure a converged network for AV, network monitoring for AV, understanding of proactive monitoring
- PE professional engineer or OSHA 30 Hour
- Knowledge of various AV manufacturers such as Crestron and QSC
- Experience in AV leadership such as presenting at tech conferences and trade shows, member or AV industry groups such as AVIXA Women's Council and the AV Consultant Group
- Broadcast, entertainment, cultural, immersive spaces and various other specialty spaces
- Experience with AutoDesk Revit / AutoCAD, Adobe Suite, and DTools
- Relevant Software Programming
- 3D Virtualization Software such as Navisworks, Twinmotion, and Rhino
- Strong background in the solutions and technologies associated with enterprise video services, including but not limited to video conferencing technologies, virtual meeting room designs, infrastructure components
