Reports to: Principal Product Designer

Location: NYC Region : This position would be considered a hybrid role, with expectations of two (2) days per week within the NYC Headquarters/office and the remaining time working remotely.

The AlphaSense Product Design team comprises talented product designers, UX specialists, and research professionals based in the US, UK, Finland, and India. About the Role:

As the Staff Product Designer for Design Systems, you will drive the overall design vision and strategy, foster innovation, and ensure consistency and excellence in design execution. You will help us evolve our current design system to more effectively empower our product teams to deliver high-quality experiences at scale across our wide product landscape. We are looking for someone who loves hands-on design work but also engages in strategic conversations to shape our solutions and products, as this role partner with product designers performing project work. You will be expected to own the entire design process from research to UI execution while working iteratively based on internal and customer feedback through transparency and inclusion.

You’ll work closely with a global, cross-functional team to bring new features to market and help define the future of our product’s design language, solidifying our position as a leader in market intelligence through AI-driven search. As a thought leader in our design team, you’ll play a crucial role in driving the success of our product. You’ll collaborate with product design, engineering, and cross-functional partners to create innovative experiences that meet the needs and exceed the expectations of our customers. Who You Are & What You Bring:

  • Expertise in visual hierarchy, layout, and information architecture
  • Thorough knowledge of using and/or building design systems to ensure consistency and efficiency in product development
  • Evangelize a holistic approach to user experience design with a deep understanding of product vision and objectives
  • Seasoned user research skills and experience with relevant methodologies
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work well both independently and in a team
  • A forward-thinking and inquisitive individual eager to push the boundaries of product design and create cutting-edge experiences
  • Stays up-to-date with market trends and technological advancements to ensure that designs are relevant and innovative
  • Always curious and eager to learn about complex topics and workflows and able to get up to speed quickly

What You’ll Do:

  • Craft exceptional and consistent UI patterns, components, tokens, and other design system components at speed and scale and ensure their coded implementations are aligned.
  • Provide design leadership on standardizing component definition, usage guidelines, tooling, and articulate the why—and guide designers and engineers in their use of components and patterns, and enable everyone’s participation in the design system.
  • Ensure the highest design quality, craftsmanship, and usability standards are upheld throughout the product development lifecycle. Establish and enforce design governance processes to maintain consistency, coherence, and brand integrity.
  • Develop in collaboration with the Principal Product Designers the strategic directions of the AlphaSense product UI, proactively identify opportunities, guide the development of design vision, principles and priorities aligned with company goals. 
  • Partner with the Product Design Team, Engineering, and other cross-functional partners to define and drive a transformation of all our products’ user interfaces to be high-quality cohesive experiences with comprehensive attention to visual and interaction details.
  • Deliver key user insights that lead to innovative design solutions by developing a thorough understanding of our customers through quantitative and qualitative data and research.
  • Stay informed about industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in product design, user experience, and design leadership. Share knowledge and insights with the team and advocate for innovative design approaches and tools.

Requirements:

  • At least 4 years of experience designing digital products.
  • A bachelor’s degree or higher in design, computer science, information sciences, psychology, human factors, or human-computer interaction preferred.
  • A professional portfolio of product-focused design work demonstrating your intentional design decisions, thoughtfulness of your process, and the breadth of your skills.
  • High proficiency in interaction design, information architecture, and at least one more UX competency: user research, visual design, or service design.
  • Proficient using design tools such as Figma, and design systems.
  • Success at scale in Consumer and/or B2B products.

For base compensation, we set standard ranges for all US-based roles based on function and level benchmarked against similar stage growth companies and internal comparables. In order to be compliant with local legislation, as well as to provide greater transparency to candidates, we share salary ranges on all job postings regardless of desired hiring location. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors including candidate experience/expertise and may vary from the amounts listed below.

Compensation Range

$181,000 - $221,000 USD
