About the Team:

We are seeking a seasoned Head of Engineering, Search & AI based in NY to lead our AI-powered search efforts during a period of rapid growth and innovation. This is a critical leadership position reporting directly to the Executive Vice President of Engineering, overseeing and expanding a team of 100+ engineers and shaping the technical direction of our next-generation search and generative AI experiences.

About the Role: 

  • Lead and scale the engineering organization focused on AI-powered search and infrastructure.
  • Drive the successful integration and application of Generative AI technologies in both product experiences and the software development lifecycle (SDLC).
  • Partner closely with Product, Data Science, and Design to define and deliver the next generation of intelligent search experiences.
  • Hire, develop, and retain exceptional engineering talentAssess and guide architectural and technical decisions, ensuring sound design and operational excellence at scale.
  • Serve as a cultural leader, fostering engineering rigor, curiosity, and continuous innovation.
  • Establish a high bar for communication, collaboration, and cross-functional alignment.
  • Help steer the organization through high-growth stages, ensuring scalability, performance, and agility.

Who You Are:

  • 15+ years of engineering experience, including 5+ years in a Sr. Director or VP-level role leading large-scale teams.
  • Proven success in attracting, hiring, and retaining top engineering talent in a competitive market.
  • Strong track record of applying GenAI or NLP/ML technologies into real-world products and engineering workflows.
  • Experience delivering AI-powered search or discovery platforms at scale.
  • Has worked at a large SaaS company during a period of high growth.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field (required); an advanced degree  is a plus.
  • Strong technical acumen; comfortable evaluating system design, architecture, and scalability.
  • Excellent communication and executive presence; can influence up, down, and across the organization.
  • Based in New York, NY or willing to relocate.

For base compensation, we set standard ranges for all US-based roles based on function and level benchmarked against similar stage growth companies and internal comparables. In order to be compliant with local legislation, as well as to provide greater transparency to candidates, we share salary ranges on all job postings regardless of desired hiring location. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors including candidate experience/expertise and may vary from the amounts listed below. 

You may also be offered equity, and a generous benefits program.

Compensation Range

$308,000 - $424,000 USD
