Job Description
- The Controls Engineer will be responsible for the electrical design on mechanical/hydraulic power stamping presses and related automation upgrades. This Includes HMI Design, PLC Design, Safety PLC Design, Hardwire Layouts, Panel Layouts, Risk Assessments, Field Device Layouts, Installation Supervision and Full Line Commissioning.
HMI Design
- Create new HMI programs using GP-pro software on Proface hardware
- Modify existing HMI programs using GP-pro software on Proface hardware
- Review and verify HMI programs during customer buyoffs
PLC Design
- Create new PLC programs using Studio 5000, RSLinx, IAB, MPE720, PCwin, Memosoft, Simatic Step 7 software on Allen-Bradley, Yaskawa, Toyopuc, Siemens hardware
- Modify existing PLC programs using Studio 5000, RSLinx, IAB, MPE720, PCwin, Memosoft, Simatic Step 7 software on Allen-Bradley, Yaskawa, Toyopuc, Siemens hardware
- Review and verify PLC design during customer buyoffs
Safety PLC Design
- Create new Safety PLC programs using Studio 5000, RSLinx, IAB, Simatic Step 7 software on Allen-Bradley and Siemens hardware
- Modify existing Safety PLC programs using Studio 5000, RSLinx, IAB, Simatic Step 7 software on Allen-Bradley and Siemens hardware
- Review and verify Safety PLC design during customer buyoffs
Hardware Layouts
- Create new Hardware Layouts using IAB and AutoCAD Electrical software
- Modify existing Hardware Layouts using IAB and AutoCAD Electrical software
- Review and verify Hardwire Layout during customer buyoffs.
Panel Layouts
- Create new Panel Layouts using AutoCAD Electrical software
- Modify existing Panel Layouts using AutoCAD Electrical software
- Review and verify Panel Layouts during customer buyoffs
Risk Assessments
- Preform Risk Assessments on projects regarding bid selection, hardware procurement, and installation timing
Field Device Layouts
- Create new Field Device Layouts using IAB and AutoCAD Electrical software
- Modify existing Field Device Layouts using IAB and AutoCAD Electrical software
- Review and verify Field Device Layouts during customer buyoffs
Installation Supervision
- Supervise Engineers, Electricians, and Millwrights during installation of various Press upgrades
- Provide direction on installation tasks to Engineers, Electricians, and Millwrights
- Problem solve any construction related items during installation
Full Line Commissioning
- Provide Full Line Commissioning support before, during, and after installation of various press upgrade projects which includes PLC, Electrical, and Mechanical support
Requirements:
- BS in Electrical Engineering/technologies or technician degree or Equivalent Work Experience.
- AutoCad Electrical Experience
- PLC programming experience (Rockwell, Mitsubishi and Siemens preferred) – Must Have
- Electrical hardware design experience
- Experience with equipment installation and commissioning
- Ability to multitask.
- Works well within a team environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
