Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled Software Engineer with experience in real-time systems and sensor orchestration to join our advanced robotics and perception team. In this role, you will be responsible for building the core orchestration layer that starts, manages, and synchronizes data collection across various sensor platforms. You will rapidly prototype orchestration pipelines for new sensor types and ensure seamless integration into downstream data consumers.
This role is ideal for engineers who thrive in fast-paced environments and enjoy working with diverse hardware ecosystems and complex data flows.
Key Responsibilities:
-
Develop real-time orchestration software to initiate, monitor, and manage sensor data capture across distributed systems.
-
Rapidly prototype orchestration frameworks and pipelines for new or experimental sensors.
-
Design and implement robust data pipelines for transforming or converting raw sensor outputs into standardized formats.
-
Integrate various sensors into a unified data framework to enable reliable and synchronized data flow.
-
Ensure system robustness, low latency, and fault tolerance across the pipeline.
-
Collaborate closely with hardware teams, perception engineers, and data scientists to meet experimental and production needs.
Required Qualifications:
-
6+ years of professional experience in software engineering, preferably in robotics, embedded systems, or data pipeline development.
-
Strong programming skills in Python and Bash (or other scripting languages).
-
Proficiency in a compiled or embedded systems language such as C or C++.
-
Experience designing, building, and maintaining data pipelines, particularly involving real-time or near-real-time systems.
-
Comfortable working in Linux-based environments and writing shell scripts for automation and orchestration.
Bonus Qualifications (Preferred but not required):
-
Familiarity with motion capture or sensor platforms such as Optitrack, Manus, StretchSense, Rokoko, AR/VR headsets, or Zed cameras.
-
Experience with message queuing systems (e.g., RabbitMQ, ZeroMQ, MQTT).
-
Experience developing or supporting distributed systems for sensor data collection.
-
Knowledge of ROS or ROS2 for sensor integration and robotics applications.
-
Background in real-time software development or systems programming.
Nice to Have Traits:
-
You’re comfortable switching between low-level hardware integration and high-level data flow architecture.
-
You can take vague sensor requirements and translate them into stable, reproducible software systems.
-
You have a strong systems mindset with attention to robustness, reproducibility, and scalability.
Salary Range: $150,000-180,000
The actual salary offered is dependent on various factors including, but not limited to, location, the candidate’s combination of job-related knowledge, qualifications, skills, education, training, and experience
