
High Performance Computer Engineer

We are seeking a skilled HPC Engineer to join our cloud infrastructure team, with a focus on supporting and optimizing high performance computing environments on AWS. You will play a key role in ensuring the health, performance, and scalability of HPC systems, including AWS ParallelCluster, SOCA, and DCV (Nice Desktop Cloud Visualization).
This role is ideal for someone with a strong background in HPC infrastructure, user support, and AWS-native services who thrives in a collaborative, high-impact environment.
Key Responsibilities
Monitor and maintain the health, performance, and utilization of HPC and computational infrastructure on AWS.
Troubleshoot and resolve binary-level issues impacting end users across HPC environments.
Provide support for DCV (Desktop Cloud Visualization), addressing performance concerns, patch management, and version upgrades.
Onboard new users in SOCA and ParallelCluster, integrating with Active Directory and shared file systems.
Manage user migrations, ensuring seamless transitions across SOCA and ParallelCluster platforms.
Diagnose and remediate file system issues across shared storage environments.
Administer and maintain Slurm workload manager configurations, policies, and upgrades.
Configure, update, and support AWS ParallelCluster environments to ensure system scalability and performance.
Qualifications
Required:
5-10+ years of experience in HPC environments, preferably on AWS.
Strong experience with AWS ParallelCluster, SOCA, and DCV.
Hands-on experience managing Slurm workload manager in a production HPC environment.
Solid understanding of Linux administration, distributed file systems (e.g., Lustre, EFS, FSx), and Active Directory integration.
Experience troubleshooting binary-level application issues and user environment problems.
Familiarity with patch management, version upgrades, and system monitoring tools.
Preferred:
AWS certifications (e.g., Solutions Architect, SysOps Administrator)
Scripting experience with Bash, Python, or similar
Experience working with containerized HPC workloads (e.g., Singularity, Docker)
Salary Range: $80,000-100,000
