Position Overview

  • We are seeking an Automotive Electrical Systems Engineer to support the development, integration, and validation of advanced electrical and electronic (E/E) systems for automotive applications.
  • The ideal candidate will have experience in systems engineering, requirements development, or verification and validation (V&V) within the automotive industry.
  • Depending on the candidate's background and project needs, the engineer will focus on defining and managing system requirements, ensuring proper integration of electrical systems, or performing system-level validation to ensure compliance with customer specifications, performance targets, and industry standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Systems Requirements Engineering

  • Develop, analyze, document, and maintain electrical and electronic system requirements throughout the vehicle development lifecycle.
  • Translate customer needs, vehicle-level features, and functional objectives into clear, measurable, and testable system requirements.
  • Collaborate with hardware, software, electrical architecture, and vehicle integration teams to ensure proper requirements allocation and traceability.
  • Conduct requirements reviews to ensure completeness, consistency, feasibility, and compliance with OEM standards.
  • Support the definition of system interfaces, functional specifications, and electrical architecture.
  • Maintain requirements traceability from customer and vehicle-level specifications through system and subsystem requirements.
  • Perform impact analyses and support engineering change management activities.
  • Utilize requirements management tools such as IBM DOORS, DOORS Next, Polarion, or Jama.
  • Support the development of verification criteria, test specifications, and acceptance requirements.

Systems Verification & Validation

  • Develop and execute validation strategies, test plans, and test procedures for automotive electrical and electronic systems.
  • Perform system-level functional testing to verify compliance with engineering requirements and OEM specifications.
  • Support validation activities across bench testing, Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL), Software-in-the-Loop (SIL), and vehicle-level environments.
  • Analyze system behavior, identify defects, and investigate electrical or communication-related issues.
  • Perform testing and troubleshooting of automotive communication networks, including CAN, CAN FD, LIN, and Automotive Ethernet.
  • Utilize diagnostic tools and equipment to monitor signals, analyze communication messages, and evaluate system performance.
  • Document test results, generate validation reports, and track issues through resolution.
  • Collaborate with software, hardware, and systems teams to support root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Ensure bidirectional traceability between system requirements, verification procedures, and validation results.
  • Support system integration, regression testing, and release readiness activities.

Cross-Functional Engineering Support

  • Work closely with OEM engineering teams, suppliers, and internal stakeholders throughout the product development lifecycle.
  • Participate in technical design reviews, requirements reviews, and engineering problem-solving activities.
  • Support compliance with automotive development processes, quality standards, and engineering best practices.
  • Contribute to continuous improvements in requirements management, testing methodologies, and system development processes.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • 3+ years of experience in automotive electrical/electronic systems engineering, requirements engineering, systems integration, or verification and validation.
  • Understanding of automotive E/E architectures, electronic control units (ECUs), and vehicle electrical systems.
  • Experience in at least one of the following:
  • Developing and managing system-level requirements.
  • Creating and executing system-level verification and validation procedures.
  • Familiarity with automotive communication protocols such as CAN, LIN, or Ethernet.
  • Understanding of systems engineering principles, including the V-model development process.
  • Experience interpreting technical specifications, engineering requirements, and electrical system documentation.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working directly with automotive OEMs or Tier 1 suppliers.
  • Knowledge of automotive systems such as body electronics, powertrain, chassis, ADAS, infotainment, or vehicle connectivity.
  • Experience with requirements management tools such as IBM DOORS, DOORS Next, Polarion, or Jama.
  • Experience with automotive testing and diagnostic tools such as CANoe, CANalyzer, Vehicle Spy, INCA, or similar platforms.
  • Familiarity with HIL testing environments such as dSPACE, NI, or Vector VT System.
  • Understanding of automotive functional safety principles and ISO 26262.
  • Familiarity with Automotive SPICE (ASPICE) processes and systems engineering work products.
  • Experience with test automation, scripting, or data analysis using Python, MATLAB, or Simulink.
  • Knowledge of electrical schematics, signal analysis, and automotive diagnostic protocols such as UDS.
  • Experience working with issue tracking and configuration management tools such as Jira, Git, or similar systems.

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong understanding of automotive electrical and electronic systems, combined with hands-on experience in either system requirements engineering or system verification and validation.
  • Candidates are not expected to have extensive experience in both disciplines but should understand how requirements definition, system integration, and validation contribute to the overall automotive development lifecycle.
