What You Will Contribute To Altos
An exciting opportunity is available for a Research Associate/Specialist to join the In Vivo Pharmacology & Biomarker Discovery team of the Institute of Medicine (IOM) at Altos Labs.
We are seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Research Associate/Specialist for our In Vivo Pharmacology Operations. The successful candidate will be supporting the progression of our therapeutic programs by conducting in vivo research activities and successful execution of preclinical studies. This role demands a solid understanding of in vivo research methodologies and the ability to perform in complex operations.
Responsibilities
- Conduct In Vivo experiments in rodents, including animal handling, dosing (IP, IV, PO, SC, Intratracheal, etc), blood collection (terminal and non-terminal), euthanasia, biofluid sample collection, animal monitoring, weighing, and necropsy
- Collaborate with operational leads to execute pre-clinical studies, contributing to timeline planning, study prep and experimental logistics
- Accurately collect and record experimental data in an electronic lab notebook, ensuring meticulous documentation, data integrity, traceability, and regulatory compliance
- Contribute to the development and optimization of experimental techniques and protocols to meet project objectives and quality standards
- Participate in developing, characterizing, and implementing new animal models to enhance the effectiveness of in vivo pharmacology studies
- Communicate study progress, results, and issues effectively with team
- Provide support in the maintenance and organization of laboratory equipment, supplies, and facilities, ensuring a safe and productive working environment
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Institute of Sciences, In Vitro Pharmacology, Science Integration, Innovation and Insights, Drug Metabolism and Pharmacokinetics, etc. to support the development and progression of therapeutic programs
- Actively contribute to a team culture that promotes continuous improvement, ownership, professional growth, and inclusion
- Flexibility to work on weekends and holidays as necessary to ensure the continuity and success of ongoing experiments
Who You Are
- Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Biology, Pharmacology, Veterinary Science, or a related field, with at least 3-5 years of industry experience
- Broad and extensive expertise with all aspects of in vivo rodent research (various dosing routes, anesthesia, surgical procedures, necropsy, etc.) in rodent models
- Strong communication skills, essential for effective collaboration with cross-functional teams
- Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Proven capability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively
- Commitment to the 3Rs in animal research, with a strong focus on animal welfare and adherence to high ethical standards and regulatory guidelines (e.g., IACUC)
- Willingness to learn new techniques as needed to help support the team
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working across diverse therapeutic modalities, including small molecules, biotherapeutics, and gene therapy is highly desirable
The salary range for San Diego, CA:
- Research Associate I: $80,750-$109,250
- Research Associate II: $96,900-$131,100
- Senior Research Associate: $111,350-$150,650
Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location.
