Role Summary
ALX South Africa is looking for an experienced Marketing Specialist, who will lead the development and execution of regional marketing strategies that strengthen brand awareness, engage key stakeholders, and position our organization as a leading force for youth and talent development. This role focuses on strategy, communications, and brand building, ensuring all messaging aligns with the brand through compelling storytelling. The specialist will oversee a high-performing marketing team and manage external partners, agencies, and contractors to deliver innovative campaigns across digital and offline channels.
The role combines strategic oversight with leadership, enabling the marketing team to create content, manage social media, design brand experiences, and execute events, while the Marketing Specialist ensures alignment with broader brand, GTM, and communications objectives.
Specific Responsibilities
Marketing Strategy & Brand Leadership:
- Develop and implement regional marketing and go-to-market strategies that expand brand awareness and resonate with target audiences.
- Shape overall communications and PR initiatives, ensuring messaging tells a consistent, compelling brand story.
- Align regional activities with global marketing strategies while tailoring campaigns to local audiences.
- Track performance metrics, extract actionable insights, and adjust strategies to maximize impact.
- Design and implement a seamless, multi-channel user journey from awareness to registration.
- Ensure all touchpoints—including ads, landing pages, websites, social media, and events—deliver a consistent and engaging brand experience.
Digital Marketing & Online Growth:
- Oversee digital campaigns to increase reach, engagement, and conversion across social media, web, video, and other online channels.
- Manage external contractors, freelancers, and agencies to deliver campaigns aligned with strategic objectives.
- Continuously measure, optimize, and report on digital performance to ensure ROI and effectiveness.
Offline Marketing & Events:
- Plan and execute offline marketing initiatives, including TV, radio, and in-person events, to generate awareness and leads.
- Ensure experiences are engaging, inspiring, and aligned with brand objectives.
Partnerships & Stakeholder Engagement:
- Identify, establish, and nurture strategic partnerships with brands, influencers, and other stakeholders.
- Leverage partnerships to amplify brand presence, strengthen communications, and generate leads.
Martech & Analytics:
- Utilize marketing and sales technologies, such as Hubspot, to monitor key performance indicators and stakeholder engagement.
- Analyze data to identify growth opportunities, optimize campaigns, and inform strategic decisions.
Budgeting & Cost Optimization:
- Manage marketing budgets to ensure resources are allocated efficiently and strategically.
- Focus on optimizing cost per acquisition (CPA) and maximizing ROI across campaigns.
Skill Requirements - Essential
- 4+ years of experience in B2C marketing.
- 3+ years leading teams or managing agencies.
- Experience working in a start-up, fast-paced, or entrepreneurial environment.
- Strong understanding of the 18–30 age demographic, including popular culture, social media, digital amplification, and influencer marketing, demonstrated through campaigns targeting youth or a passion for working with young people.
- Exceptional written, verbal, and presentation skills in English, with the ability to craft compelling messages and communicate effectively across diverse audiences.
- Proven ability to develop and execute regional marketing strategies, with strong analytical skills to interpret data and drive results.
- Experience in communications and PR, shaping brand messaging and managing media relationships.
- Expertise in managing multi-channel campaigns across digital, social, offline, and events.
- Demonstrated success in building and managing strategic partnerships to amplify brand presence.
- Experience managing marketing budgets and optimizing spend for maximum ROI.
Skill Requirements - Preferable
- Proven track record of creating content or campaigns that achieved viral reach and high engagement.
- Experience with marketing automation, CRM, and analytics platforms (e.g., HubSpot, Google Analytics) to optimize campaigns and measure impact.
- Comfortable working across multiple markets or regions, adapting strategies to local audience behaviour.
- Familiarity with influencer marketing, co-branding, and partnership activations to drive awareness and engagement.
