About the Role & Team

Amplitude is seeking a visionary Head of Growth and Digital Marketing to lead and scale our growth and digital marketing efforts. Reporting directly to the Chief Marketing Officer, this role will be pivotal in driving Amplitude’s growth strategy, introducing our platform to millions of new users, and optimizing the marketing funnel to maximize both acquisition and retention.

As a key leader, you will oversee our performance marketing, web, and lifecycle teams, while also exploring and developing new channels such as affiliates and referrals. You will manage a substantial marketing budget, ensuring it delivers measurable, scalable outcomes that align with company objectives.

We’re looking for a strategic yet hands-on leader who thrives in a fast-paced, data-driven environment and is passionate about crafting innovative, customer-centric marketing strategies. To excel in this role, you must have experience driving growth in both Product-Led Growth (PLG) and Enterprise models, effectively balancing strategies that resonate with diverse customer segments. You will be responsible for achieving self-serve revenue targets and building a strong enterprise pipeline.

 

As the Head of Growth and Digital Marketing, you will:

Strategic Leadership

    • Lead and develop high-performing teams across performance marketing, web engineering, conversion rate optimization, lifecycle marketing, affiliates, and other growth initiatives.
    • Drive high-quality business signups and retention while maintaining a positive ROI.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

    • Partner with Data, Engineering, Design, and Product teams to scale digital marketing efforts by 10x and optimize the self-service funnel.
    • Collaborate with Enterprise Field Marketing to drive digital demand generation across all strategic sales segments.
    • Work closely with Marketing Ops and Technology teams to ensure Amplitude leverages best-in-class data and technology capabilities to support growth.

Performance Optimization

    • Analyze and refine the marketing funnel to uncover growth opportunities across the customer lifecycle.
    • Lead the execution of rapid experimentation and A/B testing across channels to continuously enhance performance and results.

Budget Management and ROI

    • Strategically manage and optimize an 8-figure marketing budget to drive efficient and scalable revenue growth.
    • Collaborate with Data and Finance teams to improve attribution models, forecast growth, and effectively communicate ROI to senior leadership.

Quarterly Accountability to Targets

    • Co-own the self-serve revenue target alongside the Product Growth team and provide monthly performance updates to the Leadership Team, highlighting opportunities and challenges.
    • Co-own the enterprise pipeline target with the Field team, ensuring visibility into key program performance and upcoming initiatives for both Marketing and Sales.

Innovation and Culture Building

    • Foster a culture of creativity, experimentation, and data-driven decision-making within the Growth & Digital Marketing team.
    • Stay at the forefront of digital marketing innovation to ensure Amplitude's growth strategies remain competitive and cutting-edge.

 

You’ll be a great addition to the team if you have:

  • Leadership Experience:
    • 15+ years of experience in growth and digital marketing, with at least 5 years managing teams of 10+ members.
    • Proven track record of leading and scaling growth initiatives for SaaS or tech companies.
  • Technical Expertise:
    • Deep understanding of SaaS business models, including sales-led, partner-led and product-led growth (PLG) engines.
    • Demonstrated expertise in managing and scaling a portfolio of marketing channels, including Email, Organic, Paid Search, Generative, Paid Social, Programmatic, Video, Mobile, Affiliate, and others.
  • Data-Driven Approach:
    • Strong proficiency in leveraging data for decision-making, forecasting, and ROI reporting.
    • Familiarity with advanced marketing tools, systems, and analytics platforms to drive measurable results.
  • Results-Oriented:
    • Proven ability to manage large marketing budgets and consistently achieve revenue growth targets efficiently.
    • Experience in building scalable and repeatable marketing processes in a high-growth, fast-paced environment.

Based on legislation in California, the following details are for individuals who will work for Amplitude in San Francisco Bay Area of California. Salary range: $256,000 - $385,000 total target cash (inclusive of bonus or commission)
