The Role

The Core Performance engineering team is looking for a senior software engineer to build and maintain performance tests and performance test frameworks that underpin our performance work at Anaplan, as well as advocate for strong software engineering principles for performant software. Performance is at the heart of everything we do at Anaplan, so we need someone who loves performance as well as advocating for the performance of the platform.

Who are you?

  • A Strong Engineer: You've contributed to and impacted large codebases before, and have deep principles of software engineering
  • Accountable and self-directed: You hold yourself to a high standard, work independently, and take responsibility for outcomes.
  • Ownership mindset: You see problems through to resolution and treat platform performance as your responsibility.
  • Scale-oriented thinking: You look beyond individual fixes, create solutions that work across teams, and enable adoption through influence rather than mandate.
  • Bias toward automation: You actively seek to eliminate repetitive work through automation and build durable solutions rather than manual processes.
  • Data first: You are data-first, opinion second: you care about the quality of data provided for any decision, and you hold yourself to the highest standards of data quality
  • You care about quality: You're an advocate for quality in everything you do, and review code with quality in mind as well as advocate for performance of the platform
  • You get stuck in quickly: Anaplan moves fast, and you move faster to keep up with what's going on and how you can get involved
  • Strong Convictions, held loosely: You advocate and are passionate, but are completely open to other voices and opinions

Your qualifications

Core Engineering Experience

  • Deep software engineering experience (7+ years) designing and operating large-scale, complex systems in production environments
  • Proven ability to architect and evolve high-performance systems through sound engineering practices, architectural leadership, and data-driven decision making
  • Strong track record of delivering, owning, and continuously improving production systems with a focus on reliability, scalability, and operational excellence
  • Strong understanding of infrastructure across both cloud and on-premise environments, including machine types, resource allocation, and infrastructure bottlenecks
  • Experience working within Kubernetes environments; hands-on experience debugging, scaling, or performance testing Kubernetes-based systems is highly valuable
  • Experience working with infrastructure as code and ephemeral environments to enable reliable and repeatable system testing
  • Expertise diagnosing complex performance issues in distributed systems and leading cross-team efforts to resolve systemic bottlenecks
  • Experience working with high-performance data infrastructure such as Redis or similar in-memory data systems

Performance Engineering

  • Extensive hands-on experience designing and implementing performance testing strategies across multiple system layers
  • Strong experience setting up, maintaining, and evolving automated performance tests as part of CI/CD pipelines
  • Hands-on experience with performance testing tools and frameworks, including building and maintaining test suites
  • Deep understanding of system-level performance characteristics across application, infrastructure, database, and network layers
  • A code-first, automation-driven approach to performance engineering, emphasizing scalable and repeatable validation of system performance
  • Experience diagnosing and resolving performance issues in production systems using observability tooling and telemetry
  • Ability to influence architectural decisions and establish performance standards across engineering teams

  • Groovy
  • Python

Performance testing

  • jMeter
  • BlazeMeter

CI/CD and automation

  • Jenkins (used heavily for our performance pipelines)
  • CI tooling and pipeline automation integrated with core product delivery

Infrastructure and environments

  • Kubernetes
  • Cloud and on-premise infrastructure environments
  • Infrastructure as code
  • Ephemeral testing environments

If you believe you belong to any of the categories of protected veterans listed below, please indicate by making the appropriate selection. As a government contractor subject to the Vietnam Era Veterans Readjustment Assistance Act (VEVRAA), we request this information in order to measure the effectiveness of the outreach and positive recruitment efforts we undertake pursuant to VEVRAA. Classification of protected categories is as follows:

A "disabled veteran" is one of the following: a veteran of the U.S. military, ground, naval or air service who is entitled to compensation (or who but for the receipt of military retired pay would be entitled to compensation) under laws administered by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs; or a person who was discharged or released from active duty because of a service-connected disability.

Voluntary Self-Identification of Disability

Form CC-305
OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 04/30/2026

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
