Manager, Revenue Accounting

What you’ll do:
As our new Manager, Revenue Accounting, you will oversee the revenue accounting function & team for one of our lines of business, ensuring accurate and timely reporting, compliance with US GAAP and SOX requirements, and effective collaboration with cross-functional teams. You will lead the revenue recognition process, drive continuous improvements, and provide strategic insights to help shape the company's financial success.
Your key responsibilities will be:
- Revenue Recognition & Reporting:
- Leading the monthly, quarterly, and annual revenue close processes, ensuring timely and accurate revenue recognition in compliance with ASC 606.
- Reviewing and analyzing revenue-related journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial reports to support financial statement accuracy.
- Overseeing our assessment of credit loss reserves.
- Overseeing your team as they review contracts and agreements for appropriate revenue recognition treatment, collaborating with legal and sales teams to ensure compliance with accounting policies.
- Identifying, implementing, and managing improvements in revenue accounting processes and systems to enhance efficiency and accuracy. You will create and maintain all corporate revenue policies.
- Team Leadership:
- Managing, mentoring, and developing a team of revenue accountants, providing guidance on technical accounting issues and ensuring consistent high performance.
- Fostering a collaborative environment across the accounting, finance, and other departments to ensure seamless revenue reporting processes.
- Promoting a culture of continuous learning and development within the revenue accounting team.
- Compliance & Audit Support:
- Ensuring adherence to internal controls over financial reporting (ICFR) related to revenue accounting.
- Serving as the primary point of contact for external auditors during financial statement audits related to revenue recognition and SOX compliance for your line of business.
- Maintaining a deep understanding of accounting principles and ensure all revenue recognition practices for your line of business are in accordance with GAAP and ASC 606.
- Collaboration with Cross-Functional Teams:
- Collaborating closely with the sales, legal, finance, and product teams to address revenue recognition issues related to new product offerings, customer contracts, and promotions for your line of business.
- Providing financial insights and guidance to help shape business decisions, particularly related to pricing, contracts, and revenue forecasts.
- Providing training and guidance to teams across the business on revenue accounting and compliance.
Who you are:
- You have a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field and are an active CPA.
- You have 5-8 years of experience in revenue accounting, with at least 1 year in a leadership or management role.
- You have experience working in a publicly traded company, ideally within a tech, online marketplace, or online subscription model business.
- You have a thorough understanding of ASC 606 and GAAP revenue recognition requirements.
- You are proactive in identifying process improvements and take initiative to diagnose and remediate potential issues.
- You have experience in working with ERP systems (NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, etc.) and revenue recognition tools.
- You have demonstrated the ability to lead, mentor, and develop high-performing teams.
- You have strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- You have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present complex information clearly to stakeholders of all levels, including executives.

Compensation & Benefits
- The salary band for this position ranges from $95,000-$145,000, commensurate with experience and performance. Compensation may vary based on factors such as cost of living.
