Engineering Manager, Platform Engineering

Remote

At Anomalo, we enable our customers to feel confident in their data. We’re looking for a Platform Engineering Manager who is excited to lead a team of talented and engaged engineers on a mission. A mission to empower our colleagues and customers by providing robust infrastructure that enables them to achieve their goals with excellence and efficiency.

At some companies, Platform Engineering teams are the behind the scenes heroes who do great work but only get noticed when systems are down. At Anomalo, the Platform Engineering team is a core part of our company’s success and the work you do is recognized as such.

You’ve been a Platform Engineer yourself so you understand the depth and complexity of the role. You’ll even pitch in from time to time, but you are someone who knows that the biggest success you can have as a leader is empowering the people on your team to succeed. You invest heavily in your team as you coach and mentor them.

You’re also someone who understands the importance of engaging with stakeholders whether they’re engineers, product managers or teams from finance, sales, and marketing. You know how to connect the dots between what the business needs and how your team can deliver on those needs.

This is an immensely rewarding role that will give you an opportunity to have a significant impact on our tech, our team, and our company. Let’s talk!

What you'll do at Anomalo:

  • Ensure your team is delivering high quality work.
  • Empower your team to make good decisions and drive forward on our technical strategy.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders in engineering, product, finance, and sales.
  • Coach and mentor the engineers on your team by giving active feedback and support.
  • Hire great engineers and build a diverse and talented team.
  • Communicate team progress and keep stakeholders informed about successes, challenges, and risks while actively unblocking issues.
  • Lead from both the front and the back. We expect all of our people managers to be technical, and willing to jump in ship some PRs from time to time. This might include working in Python, Terraform, Kubernetes, and the occasional bash script.

  • Lead the Platform Engineering team which is accountable for:
    • Operating our production SaaS environment, including networking, storage, and compute infrastructure;
    • Supporting all departments at Anomalo with cloud infrastructure solutions;
    • In partnership with Operations, maintaining automated monitoring to meet our ambitious security and compliance objectives;
    • Empowering field teams in Sales and Customer Solutions to deploy, monitor, and support Anomalo running in customer environments;
    • In partnership with Finance, monitoring and controlling our infrastructure spend to meet our business objectives;
    • Operating a robust observability infrastructure;
    • Supporting a world-class developer experience, including CI/CD, compute environments, and cloud infrastructure;

What you'll bring to the team:

Note: we encourage you to apply even if you’re not a perfect match for all of the below. If a lot of this sounds like you, don’t let a single bullet point drive you away. We’d love to talk!

  • 2+ years of successfully leading and managing teams in a startup environment;
  • 7+ years of experience in Platform Engineering, DevOps, SRE or similar roles, or in Software Engineering with an emphasis on cloud infrastructure and/or data intensive systems;
  • Experience operating production systems on Kubernetes across multiple regions and/or clouds and experience with observability tools;
  • Deep technical understanding of software systems; you should be able to navigate our Python codebase and engage in design and architecture discussions
  • A focus on people growth and process improvement for their teams with a passion for leadership
  • A history of setting and meeting strategic engineering goals with a bias toward action and outcomes
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and problem solving skills

Location and travel:

  • Please note that we would prefer candidates in the East coast timezone given the team distribution
  • Planned travel once per quarter to our company’s quarterly on-sites to spend time with team (Required) and to Engineering Hackathons (~1x/yr)
  • Flexibility to travel to meet with customers and/or team meetups (approximately 15%)

Compensation

  • The estimated compensation for this role is between $190k - 230k plus meaningful equity

OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 04/30/2026

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
