Your Role
As a Hardware Engineering Technician, you will be responsible for supporting the product development team at Aperia by assisting with research, tests, inspections, and ensuring the safety and cleanliness of our engineering work area. Your primary focus will be to maintain equipment and our facility, assemble prototypes, perform tests, document results and to ensure that the building is compliant with applicable safety standards under the supervision of the engineering manager. The ideal candidate will be well organized, able to optimize the use of space and equipment, and have a strong mechanical aptitude.
Your Responsibilities
- Assemble and troubleshoot prototype mechanical and electrical hardware.
- Conduct experiments and investigations under the guidance of the engineering team.
- Document test experiments and results including generating and managing test logs and writing test methods.
- Fabricate and assemble new test fixtures as needed to improve our products.
- Maintain the physical condition of the engineering shop by inspecting, testing and monitoring equipment; and modify processes to better utilize testing equipment.
- Manage the upkeep of equipment and supplies to safeguard the engineering shop operations.
- Identify and implement new lab equipment as needed to support the facility.
- Establish and monitor security procedures and protocols ensuring OSHA compliance throughout the engineering shop.
- Provide training on equipment to new employees as needed to ensure proper use and safety guidelines are being followed.
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops and reviewing professional publications to keep abreast of latest technologies.
- Travel to local customers to assist the engineering team with new product installations and evaluations.
Skills/Qualifications
- 3+ years’ experience supporting product development as an engineering technician.
- A high school diploma or equivalent; college education/equivalent experience is a plus.
- Ability to operate power tools including but not limited to drill presses, band saws, and grinders. Ability to operate a manual mill and lathe a plus.
- Impeccable Document management: including generating and managing test logs and test summaries.
- Working knowledge of interfacing LabVIEW/similar tools with external instruments or devices through standard protocols
- Bonus points for fine pitch soldering and wire harnessing skills, including crimping.
- Able to read and understand mechanical prints and electrical schematics.
- Commercial Driver’s License is a big plus.
- Ability to lift at least 60 pounds
Pay Range: $60,000 - $70,000
*Base salary only. Salary dependent on multiple factors including, but not limited to, experience and location.
