About the role
As a Compliance Policy Intern at Appier, being positioned under Infosec team, you will support the Senior Compliance Program Manager in monitoring global regulatory trends, managing internal documentation, and ensuring business’ adherence to international data and AI regulations, as well as industrial standards. You will play a key role in tracking the evolving landscape of AI governance and data privacy across multiple jurisdictions.
Responsibilities
- Regulatory Research & Tracking: Monitor and provide weekly news briefs on international data laws and AI governance trends across regions including the EU, US, Japan, Korea, Singapore, Hong Kong, Vietnam, and the Philippines.
- Policy Analysis: Research specific legislative developments, such as the EU AI Act, US Executive Orders, and California state bills (e.g., SB 1047, AB 1018), and summarize their implications for the company.
- Managing the data subject request mechanism: Support compliance function by managing contract review tickets and data subject request (DSR) tickets within internal systems, including tracking of incoming mails and response to those requests via internal systems.
- AI & IP Governance: Research copyright compliance policies related to AI-generated works.
- Security questionnaire: Use AI tools such as NotebookLLM or Claude to fill out security questionnaires from clients and partners
About you
- Legal & Regulatory Interest: A strong interest in international data privacy laws (GDPR, PDPA) and emerging AI regulations (EU AI Act/ Korean Basic AI Act).
- Analytical Skills: Ability to synthesize complex legal updates into concise briefings and comparison tables.
- Bilingual Proficiency: Ability to work with both English and Mandarin legal texts and draft notes in both languages.
- Capacity in Japanese or Korean is a plus
- Capacity to use AI tool such as Clause code also a plus
- Attention to Detail: Experience in managing high volumes of documentation and tracking tickets accurately.
- Research Ability: Proficient in conducting deep-dive research into case law (e.g., Thomson Reuters v. ROSS) and official government guidance.
