Business Technology Architect
Archer is an aerospace company based in San Jose, California building an all-electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft with a mission to advance the benefits of sustainable air mobility. We are designing, manufacturing, and operating an all-electric aircraft that can carry four passengers while producing minimal noise.
Our sights are set high and our problems are hard, and we believe that diversity in the workplace is what makes us smarter, drives better insights, and will ultimately lift us all to success. We are dedicated to cultivating an equitable and inclusive environment that embraces our differences, and supports and celebrates all of our team members.
We are seeking a Director to lead the creation, stewardship, and continuous evolution of enterprise-wide business architecture and enabling technology roadmaps. In this role, you will serve as the connective tissue between Archer’s strategic business needs and our rapidly advancing technology capabilities. Your mandate will be to translate strategic objectives into actionable roadmaps, ensuring alignment across functions while identifying opportunities to accelerate impact through technology.
This leader will be expected to not only respond to the needs of today but also anticipate the challenges and possibilities of tomorrow. You will actively push the bounds of what’s possible by bringing cutting-edge solutions to the table — evaluating emerging technologies, forging external partnerships, and helping Archer stay at the forefront of innovation.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and maintain a portfolio of business function technology roadmaps that align strategy to enabling technologies, ensuring clarity of priorities and dependencies across functions.
- Partner with functional leaders to deeply understand their goals, challenges, and operational rhythms, translating them into forward-looking technology strategies.
- Scan the horizon for disruptive technologies and trends, shaping recommendations that position Archer to lead rather than follow.
- Facilitate alignment across stakeholders to ensure roadmaps are actionable, measurable, and drive clear business outcomes.
- Establish a governance and update process that ensures roadmaps remain dynamic and responsive to both external market conditions and internal priorities.
- Inspire teams by championing innovative ideas and fostering a culture of curiosity and future-orientation.
Qualifications
- 10+ years of relevant experience, including leadership in business strategy, technology strategy, digital transformation, business leadership, or enterprise innovation roles.
- Proven track record of building cross-functional strategies and delivering measurable outcomes at scale.
- Ability to translate complex business and technical concepts into clear, compelling narratives for executives and stakeholders.
- Strong external network and experience evaluating emerging technologies/vendors to assess applicability.
- Exceptional influencing, collaboration, and storytelling skills, with a reputation for truth-telling and trusted leadership.
- Demonstrated ability to inspire, align, and mobilize diverse stakeholders toward ambitious, shared outcomes.
- Comfort operating in a fast-moving, high-growth environment.
