Manufacturing Engineering Test Technician
Archer is an aerospace company based in San Jose, California building an all-electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft with a mission to advance the benefits of sustainable air mobility. We are designing, manufacturing, and operating an all-electric aircraft that can carry four passengers while producing minimal noise.
Our sights are set high and our problems are hard, and we believe that diversity in the workplace is what makes us smarter, drives better insights, and will ultimately lift us all to success. We are dedicated to cultivating an equitable and inclusive environment that embraces our differences, and supports and celebrates all of our team members.
About the role:
This role sits within Manufacturing Engineering and is responsible for aircraft-level functional and end-of-line testing as each vehicle is manufactured. You will help ensure each aircraft meets required performance, integration, and system-level standards before delivery or progression into flight testing.
You’ll focus on validating that each individual build behaves as intended—verifying systems, software, electrical behavior, and overall functional readiness—while supporting the transition from prototype to production.
What You’ll Do:
- Execute aircraft-level functional and end-of-line (EOL) test procedures on fully assembled vehicles, validating system integration, electrical behavior, and overall functional readiness prior to delivery or flight test
- Perform hands-on electrical troubleshooting across aircraft systems using multimeters, oscilloscopes, and diagnostic tools to isolate and resolve issues at the system level
- Follow detailed test procedures, schematics, and work instructions to verify that avionics, electrical systems, and onboard software behave as intended across each build
- Capture and document test data, identify anomalies, and generate clear, actionable reports to support engineering investigations and dispositioning
- Partner closely with Functional Test Engineering, Manufacturing, and Quality teams to drive issue resolution, support root cause analysis, and ensure test readiness
- Conduct inspections and validate aircraft against defined acceptance criteria, ensuring compliance with quality standards and build requirements
- Maintain strict adherence to safety protocols, particularly when working with high-voltage systems and fully integrated aircraft
What You Need:
- 2–5 years of experience in electronics testing, system-level validation, or quality assurance within aerospace, aviation, or other complex hardware environments
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s degree or technical certification in electronics, avionics, or electrical engineering technology preferred.
- IPC-A-620 Certification (or ability to obtain shortly after hire)
- Hands-on experience with electrical/electronic test equipment, including multimeters, oscilloscopes, and diagnostic tools
- Ability to read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and aircraft-level work instructions
- Experience executing structured test procedures and documenting results with high accuracy and attention to detail
- Familiarity with data collection tools, test software, and reporting systems
- Strong problem-solving skills, a methodical approach to debugging, and a safety-first mindset in high-risk environments
- Proven ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced production or test environment
Bonus Qualifications:
- Experience with aircraft-level integration, end-of-line testing, or system validation in aerospace or eVTOL environments
- Exposure to high-voltage systems, battery systems, or electric propulsion architectures
- Familiarity with avionics systems, embedded software validation, or hardware-software integration testing
- Experience supporting pre-flight readiness or working in environments tied to flight test operations
- Background in continuous improvement (Lean, Six Sigma) applied to test processes or production environments
