Contract Senior Cinematics Layout Artist (Unannounced Project)

We’re looking for a Senior Cinematics Layout Artist (Contract) to help deliver cinematic moments for an unannounced project.  As a Senior Cinematics Layout Artist, you’ll bring to life our story by creating cinematic cutscenes in Unreal with your cinematography, collaboration, and implementation skills.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Working with Story leadership and Cinematic management, construct the visual storytelling of cinematic cutscenes.
  • From creating the initial layout in Unreal Sequencer to final cameras and implementation, you will be shepherding the cinematic from start to finish in the engine.
  • Work with production to help establish what characters and assets will be needed for the cinematic, and the timeline each asset will need to be delivered to you by.
  • Coordinate with the World and Story Design team for location of cutscene.
  • Coordinate with cinematic animators on shot length, scene direction, camera angles, Sequencer to Maya to Sequencer exports, and more, ensuring cinematic animators have everything they need for the scene.
  • Coordinate with VFX, Lighting, and Prop teams to complete the cutscene.
  • Coordinate with Engineering, Narrative, VO producer, and VO audio lead to implement and check VO timing.
  • Coordinate with Audio, Music Lead, and the composer for SFX, music, and final mix.
  • Work with Tech Art on any troubleshooting with scene setups, rigs, export issues, etc.
  • Assist with motion capture sessions. Even if remote, attend MoCap shoots via Teams to help coordinate what your cutscene needs.
  • Validate the cinematic cutscene in gameplay to ensure that the integrations did not cause any conflicts with the rest of the game flow.
  • Post captured updates of cutscene for review.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL

  • 5+ years of cinematic experience in games.
  • 2+ years of Unreal Sequencer experience
  • 1 Shipped title using Unreal Sequencer
  • Portfolio demonstrating thorough understanding of composition, staging, camera, line of action, timing, and editing.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills. Demonstrated ability to take initiative in collaboration. Great at taking direction from stakeholders on the needs for the scene.
  • Experience with proprietary pipelines.
  • Experience with 3D software (Maya).
  • Experience using video editing software (Adobe Creative Suite).
  • Able to solve technical problems independently.

PLUSES (NICE TO HAVES)

  • Storyboarding skills.
  • Love of film and filmography, narrative in games, and other visual storytelling.

This is a 12-month contract position. While the role is remote-friendly, we are currently prioritizing candidates based in the Bellevue, WA area who are open to occasional onsite collaboration, particularly to support MoCap shoots.

This contract position is paid hourly, with additional overtime compensation when applicable. While we’re providing the full range for transparency, our target hiring rate generally falls between the minimum and midpoint of that range.

Hourly Pay Range

$50.02 - $75.03 USD
