Job Description

This critical hire will report to the Director of Development within Arevon's Development team and will be responsible for advancing all aspects of development related activities on multiple utility scale solar and energy storage projects. Arevon Energy's portfolio consists of 50+ projects in various stages of development. Such activities include maintaining project budgets and schedules, overseeing permitting and interconnection processes, and managing consultants and contractors. The Senior Project Manager will assist in leading community and client relationships throughout the development process and will work together with our internal teams at every stage of development to successfully lead Arevon's projects to the finish line.

The Senior Project Manager position is an integral role and provides an excellent opportunity for a career in real estate and energy infrastructure development. The responsibilities of a Senior Project Manager include but are not limited to:

  • Lead multiple projects or project teams through development by managing and coordinating external vendor partners and internal SME’s.
    • Effectively set project and portfolio priorities based on near-term and long-term risk and opportunity targets.
    • Thoroughly understands Project Development Life and Stage Gates.
  • Required to be an effective team collaborator and inspirational leader, position will have direct reporting responsibilities over one or more junior developers.
  • Must be able to create and continuously maintain detailed project schedules and budgets.
    • MS Project and Excel proficiency required.
  • Quantify project risks and opportunities using cost benefit analysis and economic model sensitivities.
    • Manages and continuously manipulates multiple project development case scenarios, such as, Base Case, Upside Case, Downside Case, and Delay Cases.
  • Manage project balance sheets including all PR/PO/CO effectively, including performing self-audits.
  • Lead land acquisition efforts through direct engagements with landowners and by developing effective strategies that are actioned and implemented through third-party land agents.
  • Manage engineering, procurement, and construction efforts in coordination with external vendor partners and internal SME’s.
  • Identify project risks, risk mitigants, opportunities, and action plans to secure uncontracted opportunities while effectively communicating to leadership teams in a timely and coherent manner.
    • Desire to speak to internal and external audiences of 30+ people, with well-polished platform skills.
  • Collaborate in the negotiation of all development agreements requisite to financing, which may include but is not limited to, local tax abatement, road use, and decommissioning agreements to ensure alignment with modelled project economics.
  • Monitor Generation Interconnection studies performed by transmission providers and third parties and participate in interconnection agreement negotiations.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with stakeholders, including elected officials, regulators, utilities, RTOs, and community leaders, to support project development.

Experience Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in renewable energy project development with demonstrated progression of project management responsibility.
  • Thorough understanding of the power markets such as WECC, CAISO, MISO, SPP, ERCOT, NYISO and SERC as well as region specific interconnection and project permitting processes.
  • Must have led at least one project through construction or tax equity financial close.
    • Deal sheet or portfolio of projects under management is preferred.
  • Capacity to comprehend complex documents and effectively communicate project risks and impacts.
  • Self-starter with a natural aptitude demonstrating strong intercultural communication, organizational, and negotiation skills.
  • Confident presenting material to C-Suite level executives and external stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Highly proficient with Microsoft Office and associated applications including MS Project, Excel, Teams, Power BI.
  • Certification in project management preferred.
  • Ability to learn new software as needed.
  • Ability to travel (Up to 50%).

Education Requirements

  • 4-year degree from an accredited university in engineering, mathematics, business, finance, economics, environmental sciences or similar discipline.
  • Advanced technical or business degrees encouraged.
