Advanced Practice Psychiatric Provider Manager

What we do: 

Our team of Psychiatric Providers and Mental Health Therapists treat all mental health and substance use disorders for individuals aged 6 and up. Our philosophy is to incorporate all areas of care into a patient's well-being. We believe in a “no wrong door” treatment model that finds ways to say “yes” to any patient referral rather than a multitude of exclusionary criteria found elsewhere. 

Position Overview: 

The Behavioral Health Medical Provider Manager is responsible for overseeing the clinical and administrative functions of behavioral health medical providers at their assigned locations. This position ensures the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care while maintaining compliance with regulatory standards and organizational policies. The manager provides leadership in developing clinical protocols, optimizing workflows, and fostering a collaborative environment among multidisciplinary teams. 


Key Areas of Ownership:  

  • Directly responsible for the provision of direct patient care within the Ascend model (~20 hours per week)  
  • Manages assigned caseload by establishing priorities and balancing quantity and quality issues to ensure timely delivery and coordination of treatment services
  • Directly responsible for the supervision, staffing, and coordination of BHMPs and clinical support staff within the community health center (FQHC) service lines and other service lines as directed
  • Serves as the primary clinical leader and liaison for assigned collaborative partner organizations 
  • Aids in the integration and implementation of new contracts ensuring required deliverables are completed and timelines of each are compliantly adhered to
  • Provides assistance in hiring and operational onboarding of new staff 
  • Complete annual performance reviews for each assigned direct report
  • Communicate clear expectations around teamwork, productivity, and performance measures with each BHMP
  • Demonstrates proficiency and care coordination between behavioral health, psych, substance use treatment and medical integration
  • Conducts ongoing chart reviews to ensure compliance with established standards
  • Participates in annual planning and operating budget recommendations to increase operational effectiveness and compliance with changing regulations
  • Acts as point of contact/clinical expert on complex clinical and team management issues
  • Identifies clinical and professional development staff needs; works collaboratively with the Associate Medical Director, Executive Director of Provider Development and other members of executive leadership 
  • Participates in review, evaluation and development of departmental, functional and/or service-related policies and procedures
  • Participates in the investigation and follow up on patient complaints to ensure timely response and/or appropriate resolution to concerns/issues
  • Participates in departmental orientation, on the job training and quality assurance programs/initiatives
  • Other Clinical Management duties and responsibilities as assigned

 Provider must have active CA medical license* 


Qualifications:  

  • Active, unrestricted advanced practice medical license (PA-C, PMHNP) 
  • 4+ years of experience in direct psychiatric patient care (required) 
  • 2+ years of experience in management (preferred) 
  • Proficient in Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems for documentation, patient charting, and managing healthcare information (ECW exp strongly preferred)
  • Must have remote work environment aptitude/ experience

Physical Requirements: This is a fully remote position but may require in-person attendance as company needs arise. Please be aware the below physical requirements should be considered prior to applying to the position: 

  • Prolonged Sitting: Ability to sit for extended periods during working hours. 
  • Manual Dexterity: Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity for using a computer keyboard, mouse, and other office equipment. 
  • Visual Requirements: Adequate vision for reading computer screens and documents. 
  • Communication: Clear verbal and written communication skills for virtual meetings and correspondence. 
  • Hearing: Sufficient hearing ability for participating in phone calls or virtual meetings. 
  • Work Environment: Access to a quiet, dedicated workspace free from distractions with reliable internet connectivity.

Salary: $180,000-$190,000 with primary residence located in CA
