Position Overview
ATEK Inc., a federal IT services contractor seeking a Senior Enterprise Storage Engineer to support mission-critical infrastructure environments within a government customer setting. This role is responsible for the design, implementation, and operational support of enterprise storage and cloud-based disaster recovery solutions across hybrid on-premises and AWS environments.
The successful candidate will work closely with infrastructure, security, and operations teams to ensure high availability, data integrity, compliance, and continuity of operations (COOP) in accordance with federal standards and best practices.
This is a hybrid position supporting a federal customer based in Bethesda, MD.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer and support Dell PowerScale/Isilon
- Administer and support NetApp storage systems
- Manage storage services utilizing CIFS/SMB and NFS protocols across physical, virtual, and cloud platforms.
- Implement data protection and security controls, including encryption, backups, access controls, and replication, in alignment with federal security and compliance requirements.
- Support documentation efforts including architecture diagrams, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and operational runbooks.
- Architect and implement cloud-based disaster recovery (DR) solutions that support business continuity, failover, and recovery objectives.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including systems engineering, cybersecurity, and program management, to meet contract deliverables and service-level objectives (SLA).
Required Qualifications
- 7+ years of experience with Dell Isilon / PowerScale (PowerScale certification highly preferred).
- AWS Certified SysOps Administrator, Solutions Architect, or equivalent cloud certification.
- 5+ years of hands-on experience with NetApp storage appliances.
- Bachelor’s degree, technical training, or equivalent experience with 5+ years of related enterprise storage experience.
- 3+ years of experience supporting Unix/Linux-based virtual machine environments.
- Strong understanding of data replication, backup, restore, and synchronization in hybrid cloud environments.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.
- U.S. citizenship or work authorization required per federal contract requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience with AWS storage services, specifically NetApp ONTAP and Amazon FSx for NetApp (FSxN).
- Demonstrated experience designing and supporting disaster recovery (DR) solutions in AWS.
- Experience supporting federal IT environments and working under government compliance frameworks.
- Experience with high-availability clustered storage architectures and low-latency interconnects.
- Familiarity with continuity of operations (COOP) and disaster recovery planning.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-resolution skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including technical documentation for government customers.

Compensation
- Salary Range: $140,000 – $170,000 annually (commensurate with experience)
