POSITION SUMMARY:

The Director, Product Marketing, Pain Management is responsible for defining and executing the overall strategy, growth, and performance of the Pain Management portfolio. This role develops and supports the business case for sustained portfolio growth, executes portfolio and lifecycle strategy across multiple products and stages of maturity, and contributes to enterprise portfolio and innovation planning.

The position serves as a key voice and champion for Pain Management, shaping and informing the long-term vision while ensuring disciplined execution across the portfolio. This role partners with and influences cross-functional stakeholders—including Sales, Marketing, Training & Education, R&D, Operations, Finance, Quality, and Regulatory—to deliver differentiated solutions, successful product launches, strong customer and KOL engagement, and measurable business results across the Pain Management franchise.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION:

  • Shapes product marketing and portfolio strategy for the Pain Management franchise based on deep clinical, market, and customer insight in a specialized therapy area, leveraging knowledge to influence multiple functional areas.
  • Defines integrated marketing strategy for the full franchise, including value propositions, positioning, messaging architecture, segmentation, and go-to-market strategy, and leads Group Managers through strategy development and execution.
  • Proactively delivers franchise-level insights, analytics, and performance inputs to inform enterprise vision, portfolio strategy, and investment decisions.
  • Establishes and uses a data-driven operating model, defining key business, market, and performance metrics to identify opportunities, prioritize initiatives, and track portfolio health.
  • Strategically initiates and nurtures thought leader, clinician, and customer engagement across the Pain Management space, including physicians, advanced practice providers, hospitals, health systems, and KOLs, and leads execution of advisory boards and engagement plans.
  • Identifies unmet clinical needs, emerging technologies, and market opportunities to contribute to innovation, new product concepts, and franchise growth strategies in partnership with R&D and cross-functional teams.
  • Partners with R&D and cross-functional stakeholders to translate voice-of-customer, clinical, and market insights into differentiated product requirements, evidence strategies, and development priorities.
  • Ensures regulatory, legal, and compliance alignment across all product marketing, messaging, and portfolio planning activities, reinforcing compliance culture and representing franchise perspectives cross-functionally.
  • Collaborates with Sales, Training & Education, Market Access, and International teams to align franchise strategy, enable field execution with value stories and tools, and support revenue, adoption, and market expansion objectives.
  • Leads, develops, and mentors product marketing managers and Group Managers across multiple products and initiatives, building team capability, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Influences senior leaders and cross-functional stakeholders to align on franchise priorities, resolve trade-offs, and ensure execution of franchise strategy, while contributing to broader commercial and marketing initiatives.
  • Anticipates team and franchise needs, coordinating with other functional leaders to ensure resources, priorities, and execution plans are aligned to company and franchise objectives.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, biomedical engineering required or demonstrated equivalent combination of education, training and experience
  • Minimum of seven (7) years successful sales/marketing or related experience in medical devices
  • Minimum five (5) years managerial experience
  • Track record of thorough analysis of a business unit, coupled with the ability to win supporters in the larger organization
  • Experience aligning with top company executives and leading through influences
  • Direct experience with US and INTL physicians, strong familiarity with Cardiac, Thoracic, and/or Vascular procedures
  • Ability to influence cross-functional teams without formal authority, in particular R&D teams
  • Builds and nurtures relationships internally and with external customers
  • Analytical and strategic, effective communicator, and strong moderator/presenter
  • Hands-on and able to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to travel up to 50%

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • MBA or advanced degree
  • Experience with international organizations and customers

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to regularly walk, sit, or stand as needed
  • Ability to occasionally bend and push/pull as needed
  • Ability to pass pre-employment drug screen and background check

$173,000 - $210,000 USD
